JASMINE GUY SPILLS ALL THE ‘A DIFFERENT WORLD’ TEA

She’s now starring on the SyFy channel show Superstition, but Jasmine Guy first made it big playing Southern belle Whitley on A Different World.
Guy stopped by Dish Nation and of course we couldn’t help but ask her a slew of questions about the ’80s sitcom.
She revealed where she thinks Whitley and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) would be today, whch cast members she still keeps it touch with and if there’s a chance of a reboot for the Hillman gang.
The actress also made a foray into music in the ’90s and Brat was a huge fan.
The two then broke out into a choreographed number to Guy’s R&B hit “Try Me.” It’s a must see.
Meanwhile you can catch Jasmine and co-star Mario Van Peebles in Superstition on Fridays at 10pm on SyFy.

People have to realize, Different World premiered 30 years ago...She's not going to look like she did when she was in her 20's. She is 5 years from 60. On top of that she was playing someone a lot younger than what she was when the show started. It think she was like 26, playing an 18 yr old. And 30 by time they were seniors on the show....People have to lay off, she aged gracefully!

I was in college when the show started. These characters showed that college students were college students. They had the same challenges and good times all college kids did. It made me determined to bring my kids up to see the person inside the skin. Not the color of the skin. Cosby Show and Different World were pivotal in how people thought about what was there. Cosby show was just like home and Different World showed college kids going through the same growing pains we all went through. They may have. Convinced many others to attend college. I think the shows were more important than that. It showed the world that everyone could succeed. Skin was not an excuse to strive to be better humans and normalized families. I wish there were more shows today that showed successful people of all colors. Thank you all for growing up with me and setting an example of how good people should behave.

Angela Bassett is 62, and looks better than a lot of women in their 30s. And Angela has never had plastic surgery. With Jasmine, she was outstanding on A Different World.
