Hello Booktube! It took some arm-pulling and a big of wifely nagging, but Jason agreed to visit my channel to do the I'm So Annoyed Booktube Tag (and a furry friend stopped in as well). It's always great to have Jason ‪@OldBluesChapterandVerse‬ and Blue visit my channel.
Jason chose not to tag anyone, but if you haven't done this tag and you want to, please feel free OR tell us something in the Comments section that you've find annoying or something you're surprised to find others find annoying. As always, I love hearing from you in the Comments, but if you don't feel comfortable leaving a comment, you can leave an emoji or give this video a thumbs up. I appreciate it!
Original Tag: • The I’m So Annoyed Boo...
Playlist of all the versions of this tag I've been able to find:
/ watchv=feyjxlkkeoe&lis...
Questions:
1. Do publishers ever do things that you find annoying? Share an example.
2. Have you ever been annoyed by a spoiler? Even something as simple as someone else telling you there's a great twist?
3. Have you ever been annoyed by what you discovered in a Little Free Library, a book sale or used bookstore? Tell us what you found and why it was so annoying.
4. When it comes to short story collections, are you annoyed if there's a novella in the middle of the collection?
5. Deckled edges: beautiful or annoying?
6. Other people's annotations in a used book or library book: Annoying or are you OK with it?
7. If there's a series or a collection of certain kinds of books (like an imprint) and changes are made, are you annoyed or OK with it? If yes, give us an example.
8. Do the decisions of characters in a novel every annoy you? Share the book and what decisions you found annoying.
9. Are you ever annoyed by how someone organizes their books? What do you find annoying?
10. Share something bookish that you find annoying.
11. Tag other people!

God's nightgown! That was fun. Great to see Jason and Blue. By the way, at least 95% of these annoyances can/is addressed by ebooks especially in regards to covers The number 1 thing that annoys or mystifies at the moment is shelves that display books reversed or pages out maybe they just really, really like deckled edges. Go well guys.

Hi Kelly! This was fun. It was interesting to hear Jason's answers. I can relate with Jason about spoilers. One day I was watching a tv show and it spoils Anna Karenina ending and even though I want to read it, knowing the ending is like robbing the experience. Blue is so cute 🥰. Happy reading 💛

Blue seemed to have a lot of opinions in this one (though I suspect some of them were about birds in the garden)! Great video, enjoyed hearing what bookish things are annoying to Jason. Always love to see Blue 🐈 - he seemed very happy with being allowed on the table! 😊

Yes, he was very naughty on Sunday and got on the table again! 😻I knew Jason had strong opinions about some of the questions so, after much persistence, I got him to agree. It was fun and unexpected to have a video with all three of us! So glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for watching. 💛

Good advice, I need to be more careful about the casual "there's a twist in the story." Great video, the look you gave your husband when he dropped the "H word" 😂I'm team gilded-edges, but deckled-edges are nice too!

Hey Kelly, Jason, Blue, and not even H.E. double hockey stix! 😊 Wow, Orion pictures, that takes me back! I'm also with you both on team deckled edges, (great phrase, by the way) though I'm generally fine with notes and underlining in books, not highlighting so much. It's funny when something is written that seems to have nothing to do with the text...like a shopping list, ha. Curious to look into Dark Eden now. Wow, Blue is quite the yoweler! So delightful and cozy seeing you all together. Nice cozy way to wrap up the weekend. 😺-Carm & Rocky who watched with great interest

I know, I know! I'm an old Victorian prude. People don't understand that growing up - and I am NOT making this up - I got in trouble for saying "horse puckey," "crud bud," and "whores." So I just try to avoid any profanity on my channel because people do watch with children and grandchildren and it just isn't a value of my channel. People really do write random things in books, don't they? I'm glad you enjoyed seeing all three of us! Our best to you and Rocky! 💛😻

@@booksimnotreading That is funny. I do understand though...I don't really curse in 'regular' life, and people have told me they watch my own videos with the kids too, so it's more incentive (again, not that it's needed) to "keep it clean" on the channel. 🙂

It was nice to see your husband Jason and to hear his responses to the "annoyed tag" questions! You are a charming couple! That is funny about the observation about novellas put in the middle of a story collection. I am about halfway through reading such a collection by Ivan Bunin, and whereas almost all the stories in it are brief (10-20 pages long), there are two that are 100+ and 200+ pages thrown in there and neither at the end! But I almost don't mind it, I think if they were both placed at the end, I'd just feel daunted and a sense of oppression building as I read through the book, whereas if they are placed in the middle of the book, I just have to keep forging ahead, and take a deep breath and 'dive in' when I get to them...and I know I will get a feeling of accomplishment once I've read them and a morale boost to finish the entire collection. Re: used books with the pre-existing annotations/notes of others, I find these mildly annoying (and rarely do they point out something interesting or fresh to me), but I can usually put up with them and it's not a deal-breaker. I do find it makes me less likely to want to hold onto the book after I'm done reading it, though. Finally, I like deckled edges too! Before discovering your KZbin channel, I didn't know what that was called... :D

Yes, they are not normally around when I am filming. I try to capture Blue on camera every chance I get, but he has a 6th sense about these things. Jason, on the other hand, is usually on my channel because people love to see us disagree, but this one was a bit different. Our best arguing videos usually come from a Booktube event like Jane Austen July. Thanks so much for watching, Stuart. 💛

Lovely to see you, Jason (and you too, Blue!) Although I don't mind a spoiler in an older classic, it seems so unnecessary of Bloom to do what he did with his introduction to Blood Meridian. If you're going to spoil a book like that, it should really be the afterword, right?!

One of the online booksellers I was buying many books from started sending out books that in my estimation should have been thrown out and not sold and on top of it they were not interested at all into seeing how bad they were. I think it should be clearly marked if the s have been annotated in any form. I'm with many that don't like the advertisement of the example shown of like a Netflix unremovable sticker which is more of an advertisement than bringing anything to the book. I also find some of the explanations about the book overly spoilery and they should just keep it brief. Sorry about the ranty rant! I'm so easily annoyed when it comes to books LOL. One of the reasons I don't like to go to the library is when I find books that have food stains or crumbs in the book. ARGH. Ranting aside, it was fun to watch this video of you and your husband. And of course your pet stopping in for a visit

Price tags are such a pain. For awhile, Barnes and Noble had really good stickers for bargain books - they would peel right off - but later they made it more difficult. Maybe eBay sales had something to do with it. Who knows? Thanks for watching and commenting! 💛
@Lake-Reads
@Lake-Reads 2 ай бұрын
@@booksimnotreading Oh yeah certain ones from certain bookstore chains remove so much easier! (for me it is the Borders prices tags that peel off so satisfyingly) it must be the adhesive quality or something. Nowadays as soon as I get a new book, I prioritize on getting the stickers off before they age. Just looked through my shelves and apparently I have a copy of Dark Eden unread for years! it has the boring white cover though.
