This and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. It creeped me out when the ship's wooden statue came to life. The Mystic Seaport (Mystic Connecticut) has a collection of ship statues. The artwork is beautiful buy still gives me the creeps.

One of my favourite movies - first saw it in a picture theatre as a child and was delighted and wonderfully terrified. Brilliant stop motion, sound effects and music score make this a riveting scene that proves you don't need CG and huge budgets to captivate an audience.

The stop motion technique can be seen in King Kong from 1933, 30 years earlier. Jurassic Park exactly 30 years after Jason and the argonauts, marked the end of stop motion era in cinema. Quite interesting facts.

I saw this film when it first appeared at the movie theater in 1963 (I was 9 years old). I was absolutely riveted by Talos slowly coming to life, and attempting to stop Jason and the Argonauts from leaving the island. From then on, ALL of Ray Harryhausen's films were a must for me...there simply was no comparison to his skill at creating "life" from mythical creatures!

Dude, I bid to differ. A remake of this oldie but goodie with the enhanced CGI will make this move a blockbuster with the best actors and improved script. In it’s day it wasn’t a huge hit but a minor one - still great but nothing compared to what could be done with the story today.
