It's great to see a professional teaching a drum clinic go "ok, I can't do that".

I'm by no means a metal drummer but I love listening to this guy talk about drumming.

Being an extreme metal drummer, this is something I'm incredibly familiar with. I love how humble this guy is.

so many people always ask famous drummers how do you do this how do you do that there's no secret in improving really quickly there's time practice and patience and having a good personality is what's going to get you gigs

i wish there were more hours in a day or i only needed to sleep 5 hours every 10th day or something, because i learn so much by watching videos like this one. you and derek both kick ass, you have your own vibe, groove, personality, and the likes. for me every drummer can teach me something.

Daniel Pittaway: Yeah, Derek Roddy, George Kollias and Tim Yeung are prime examples of drummers who are exceptionally good at the one-foot blast.

This type of blast is the Traditional blast. George Kollias' video on it from his DVD is by far the best at explaining the different types, I think :)

That is precisely why Jason says to:" practice your single stroke roll". No matter what you think you have mastered, it can always be better.

so is a bomb blast with 16ths on the feet too? I get confused between all the blast terminology, it seems to change every couple of years...

So basically a commonly used variation of a basic blast is just a single stroke roll but doing it with the ride like you were doing? I have been trying to learn blasts beats for a while and I got the basics but there are so many different variations that always confuse me.
@jasonbittner11 жыл бұрын
traditional blast -single stroke roll rlrl where rt hand and rt foot play together, (ONE FOOT) hammer blast - everything plays together hands and right foot (ONE FOOT) bomb blast - (2 kicks) sixteenths on kicks, hands either RLRL split or LRLR (for amibidextrous players)
@FrustratedEngin33r12 жыл бұрын
I really hope so! :) cause you guys are awesome live! everyone of you is kicking ass! :) How long did you practice to get that crazy with your feet? :)

I learned how to blast by watching the kings of blast... Paul Mazuriewicz, Pete Sandoval, Derek Roddy, and George Kollias.

I play in an extreme metal band and I've been doing blast beats for a couple years and I am confused on something.I have seen drummers say the feet match the ride (or whatever cymbal) and others say that it matches the snare.I learned both to be safe but am still not sure what is the "correct" way.

try playing things you would normally play with your right foot, with your left.......this helps a lot

Hey Jason, I just have 1 question.. how do you practice your left foot or the make it able to follow the right? thank u

Funny that even the Grammy-nominated drummers out there seem to think that they don't need their pinky-finger for drumming -.-
@Grim21410 жыл бұрын
To me the moellar is huge and finger strength is just as important. Anyone that was in drumline knows this shit inside and out.

i hope you're referring to Derek Roddy in this video coz you two seem to have become bffs recently :)...he's a true metal legend...please use your shadowsfall influence to help him out with gigs & his solo projects so that he can sort out his financial issues...he's doing a great job by giving drum lessons but im not sure if that's enough for him to support his family....of snakes :D
@smallfaucet7 жыл бұрын
Is that a price tag on his mic stand? haha
@jasonbittner11 жыл бұрын
i am. and weve been "bffs" for quite sometime ;-) dont worry about D-rod, he's doing fine, he's just really not into touring anymore, because of his snake business, that's his main focus right now
@ottawadrummer11 жыл бұрын
jason: with the 'economy' euro with the two pedals, just do the same technique you did with the snare role but use two feet. It takes a bit of practice but it really helps to get the BPMs up with this technique. It also sounds really cool when the ride groove goes: bell ride ride, bell, ride ride, bell ride ride repeat. cheers....and there's also the gravity blast with the one handed roll.
