Aldean's song (and most of modern country) is completely uncritical, it asks nothing of the listener and merely confirms biases already held by its target audience. Isbell asks you to sympathize with the people who are usually cast as villains, much like how Cash asked us to sympathize with prisoners or murderers. He carries on a tradition and we are lucky to have his music.

Good attempt, but Jason won Song of the Year for 'Cover Me Up' in 2018. He's won 4 Grammys & numerous other awards. Morgan's still paying Isbell both songwriter and album royalties. Jason donates Morgan's payment to the NAACP in Nashville in lieu of Morgan's drunken, racist triad caught on tape. Too bad Morgan's never written a single song himself. Look at the liner notes on his albums; 3, 4 writers on every song, many many other artists songs he cover and so many programming engineers it's hilarious...and sad. Programming = mediocre artist, at best. So while Morgan might be drawing in a large audience at shows, he's paying out BIG bucks in songwriting royalties.

I don’t listen to country music normally, but I did listen to the song to see for myself if I was offended and thought it was racist and I did not. That's fun to witness when that happens. I listened to Jason Aldean's song like 10 times, and the only way you see race is if that's something you project in your own mind. That's on their minds 24-7 so of course the song is racist? And apparently there's lynching as well, but I didn't see that either. ❤ Jason Aldean 😏👍

I have every Jason Aldean album, and will always be rocking 🎸 with Jason Aldean. I don't care if it offended you. I ❤ Jason Aldean and can't wait for his next album. School/mass shootings is a failure of the ruling class politicians i.e. Joe Biden ect.... Not a failure of gun manufacturers. Yes there were riots, and they did burn down buildings. They blocked streets highways and prevented travel of hard working Americans who just wanted to go to and from work ect.... Thankfully I was able to avoid that because I don't ever stop for anyone in the middle of the street I run them over. Anyway have a nice day enjoy your Jason Isbell music, if that's what you like. I'm sure he has some amazing songs too. 🙄👍
