Jason was borned and raised 15 miles from me tucked in the northwest corner of Alabama on the Tennessee river. I can overlook his views on Ukraine, immigration, ect and just enjoy some of the best music being made nowadays. Its not hard

I love Jason - I notice he says "maybe 18 years was too early" - It's a funny thing. I'm British - we put more details and the ages on the gravestones in our military cemetaries. The US don't, not sure why. .. Maybe why. I've been to US ones in Europe and I obviously honour (and that is the CORRECT spelling you tea chuckers ;) their/your sacrifice.... But by god why I stand in front of British ones and SEE they were just 18 (the age is normally listed) when they died, and so many WERE so young ... it rips your heart out. Anyway, enough of my morose comments, back to the cheery song Jason wrote. I think this one was also on a disney compilation :) [Edit: I'm not saying dying is ever good but at least at say ...35 if you've probably had "a life" and if no kids, not worst thing ever - and I'm past 35 so not picking on you ;). 18-19 they may never have had a beer or, to use the vencular, "a shag" - then shot in Belgium and that's it. Not an ideal life. BTW I'm slipping this in here. By experience = Dutch people are totally respecful of WW2 sacrifice. Belgians don't give a shit, they really don't. Ik versta het niet. ).] I repeat my above comment. En ook dat over nederlands v belgie :) A lifetime ago I chose, due my girlfriend, to learn Dutch, I loved her and have no regrets :).

All gave some, some gave all,for you to hang at the mall never knowing all those that stood and took the fall, the red white and blue is maintained by the men and woman that answered Uncle Sams call, so while your out there in your malls just remeber that all gave some and some gave all did you ever wonder how many stood to take the fall....GOD BLESS ALL THOSE THAT GRANT MY CHILDREN THEIR FREEDOM IN THIS GREAT LAND....OORAH!

did you hear this verse? Jason is mourning the loss of a young life, not celebrating the Marine Corps. "There's red, white, and blue in the rafters And there's silent old men from the corps What did they say when they shipped you away To fight somebody's Hollywood war?"

I never planned on leaving friends in the sands. But they can sleep in dress blues because they earned it. My dress blues are hanging in a closet.

It's how you know someone's one of the songwriting greats. Look how many people cover Bob Dylan songs and make you think, "Damn, that's a great song. Kudos to the guy that wrote that." We'll probably see a lot of great Jason Isbell covers over the next decades (commensurate with the number of excellent songs he's written.)
