whenever i get into a song of his i'm convinced its the best song i've ever heard, then i find another song of his and that one becomes the best song i've ever heard. It's a nice cycle.
@kylewalsh85666 жыл бұрын
Yes!! I went through this same cycle
@MatthewARiley6 жыл бұрын
It's the Isbell cycle. I've yet to find another artist who has the ability to incapacitate me in less than 4 minutes so fucking often. He's a master. We're lucky we live in the same timeline as him.
@fedorbitch6 жыл бұрын
Im at that exact stage with this song right now. "Last of my kind" is what sold me on him and over the last year or so i find another song that i think can't be topped.

Know what you mean. Only recently discovered Jason. Incredible songwriter.

Every. God. Damned. Song of his has an epic fucking line. Discovered him a few years back and played everything he's ever done in a constant loop. About a year later I started listening to different stuff off and on. Now i can't wait for a new album.

This song helped me through heartbreak in my early twenties. It's like whiskey for your ears.

Damn, it’s now Aug of 2020, and “I ain’t really falling asleep, I’m fading to black” remains one of my favorite lyrics of all time! Jason looks like shit here, but still performs like he’s heaven sent. I know I’m partial, but his would be the first face on a Mt. Rushmore of this generation’s songwriters. He can say so much in very few words & can lyrically paint a picture that creates a picture of the song & leave you feeling like you’ve actually watched a video.

He's in rough shape here and in the midst of his battle with alcoholism/addiction but as always he put on an amazing show and every word came right from his heart. He's been sober for years now and Amanda Shires killed his goddamn lonely love.

Yeah he looked pretty rough back then. It’s amazing how not drinking turns it around.

I wish this Jason never got married. We would have gold sad tunes for years to come. No matter how unlikable he becomes, I still respect the man. I hate liking him sometimes.

This song made me a DbT fan, and a fan of all that followed. I bought some of their discs, largely because I wanted to update my musical tastes in my mid 40s, and on my way to the checkout with Killers and My chemical Romance CDs, I saw the Gangstabilly cd, with the hilarious poster art and bought it. Real good, Steve McQueens a cool song. So I bought some more from amazon, and ripped to my iPod. So, I’m raking the lawn and this came on, and I’m standing there thinking about the girl, and the motel room in Wyoming, when I was wild, and who I became, hitting replay over again. Just standing there with my rake for 20 minutes. I’ve been a huge fan since.

I sit here, astounded, watching Isbell play this beautiful song in completely stunned disbelief. I've heard a few of his songs and thoroughly enjoyed them but, truth be told, I had never delved deeply enough into his catalog or other works for that matter. I stumbled across this song sometime last year and fell in love with it. I was bored tonight, waiting for my friends to hop on discord, when I decided to look up a live performance of the song only to fine Mr. Isbell upon a stage performing it. I was blown away, and after a quick googling, to confirm the truths my eyes were seeing, I've fallen for this song even more. So freaking cool lol

Could anyone tab the riff at 0:18 please?
@BC-on7uf4 жыл бұрын
I don’t really know how I’d type tabs out on here but I can explain it. From the A minor chord strike the D string and slide down to the 7th, then hit the d string, b string, d again then G. Then take your ring finger and strike the 8th fret of the low e, then d and G again then using the resonance from the low e slide back up with your ring finger to the root of the g on the 3rd fret of the low e
@BC-on7uf4 жыл бұрын
I also forgot to mention after you strike the low E on the 8th fret pick up your middle finger from the D string and strike d and g open
