I was lucky enough to be in Nashville a few months ago and was able to catch the first night of his Ryman residency. I’ve got a little over a year of sobriety and this music has just been such a dear friend to me over the last year. They played Southeastern in its glorious entirety to celebrate its 10 year anniversary then played a second set of newer songs. By far one of the most incredible musical experiences of my life. It was almost transcendent. What a privilege it was to be in that room that night and experience that in person. It’s a moment and memory that I will cherish forever.

Dude, I’m so glad that you posted this because I’ll be doing a deep dive into his music mostly because of your comment I first started going into treatments centers and the 90s and I had some good stretches. I currently have 11 years and is the thing that heals me. I also find that when I play guitar because of the focus, it takes it occupies my brain in a positive way when I’m having those thoughts, congrats on your newfound freedom

I remember seeing Isbell just after SE album at the Fillmore SF. He and Sadler had a rented backline of BFRI Deluxe Reverbs and were using really modest pedalboards. I think they each used one guitar for most of the show. Their sound was great. As much as I love gear, I appreciate the "Marc Ford" ethic of just a few good pedals, a cool amp and away ya' go. Rigs like these with a 1-800 customer service help line and a dedicated finance department just lose me.

When I see these rigs I’m always interested in how they program their set lists. Scene switching between connected songs is such a challenge for me in a three-piece. The pops, pauses, and dropouts are a real bummer.
@MichaelBethancourt9 ай бұрын
All of the programming leg work happens on the front end, before a rig like this is delivered. Setlist programming takes minutes through the RJM MMGT editor. Far easier than it might seem.
@tr_murf43999 ай бұрын
@@MichaelBethancourt I mean-I get it. I have extensive experience with the Boss switching unit and now the Quad Cortex. Kills me how songs have to come to a complete stop before I can switch scenes. It'd be nice to maintain delay trails and ring outs through a scene switch. Again-in a three-piece, guitar is responsible for filling dead air between songs. That doesn't work when your unit has to start at zero every scene.
@MichaelBethancourt9 ай бұрын
@@tr_murf4399 Right on, I hear you. There are some tricks that might be worth a look (forgive me if you've exhausted these already) that involve parallel loops and/or bypassing those "in-between" effects without closing the loop in which they're found. They are, however, largely dependent on existing infrastructure and the way the effect you wish to have hold over is able to interact w/ external control. Sorry if this is all old hat, or if that initial reply came across as condescension, but there are options.
