Guy hadn't picked up a bat in 3 years. A few dozen whacks in the batting cage and a base hit up the middle. Muscle memory and natural talent. He was fun to watch.

One of my favorite Cleveland baseball players of all time. Loved that he finally got the hat tip from the Cleveland crowd. Ya done good Kip! Cheers!

Brought a tear to my 91 year old eyes. He was also a leader in the club house. Thoughtful idea to bring back in front of a full house.

Why did he retire? Was he traded from the Indians?
@mattfulmer42435 ай бұрын
He aged quickly and his bat speed/power went down after breaking the hamate bone in his wrist. The Indians let him become a FA and he signed with the Cubs. He played one year with them, was released, signed a minor league deal with Atlanta and retired after a season in the minors.

@@mattfulmer4243 darn. I remember him. Career feels like it was cut way too short. Thanks for filling me in.
