I was 14,15,16 listening to Dangerous Toys. I was at Tower Records in Seattle looking for some king Diamond and I came across their tape and that awesome drawing of the CLOWN on the cover just memorized me so I bought it and fell in love with them.

I knew Jason a little bit back in the early 90’s from seeing Dangerous Toys live and at some bigger concerts hanging out at the Erwin Center. Always a great guy and in recent years I have seen him in some of his other bands like Ignitor, Broken Teeth, and his Metallica cover band Killa Maul where he plays Hetfield singing and rhythm guitar playing the entire Kill’em All record including Anethesia by the bass player. Jason is in a other bands also and is still a great guy and Texas legend!!!

Jason McMaster wasn't Layne Staley no one is however he possessed outstanding vocal range second to none in that era. For example on the songs (Feels like a Hammer) and (Scared). In essence not sure why Jason Mcmaster isn't mentioned as one of the all-time best vocalists in music history.

7:24 Dead on, that is exactly how it happened. Sileen and some guy were drunk and I thought they wanted a 3way, I declined. The other guys didn't give her the time of day, but she wanted the demo tape I had in my jacket. At the time I slept in Uhaul trucks and on couches, only had a bag of clothes, leather jacket, pair of boots, a blanket and $6000 in guitar equipment, and that demo tape. I figured we only need ONE yes. She played that tape to 3 record companies that night at the hotel and couple days later to a record Executive in NY who took it from her. I was running from the dressing room after the last gig we played with Onyxx, when Jason asked "Trembly, where are you going?" I said "I ain't got no money, ain't got no home, I gotta find me a Bim(bo) to live with tonight" and our roady said "Sport'n a Woodie "?

@ModernMountainLiving
@ModernMountainLiving 3 жыл бұрын
@@michellelane6501 Sileen Armbeck was an AnR Rep with the Publishing company SBK(Wilson Philips, Mr Big). Terry Malonson was the singer I asked Jason to replace till we found a permanent replacement. She adopted the name Onyxx. That was the band name we used prior to Dangerous Toys. For a little time in between we used Pretty Boys but we all hated it. Before we ever played a gig we talked about it because a song Mike was writing included Pretty Boys make Dangerous Toys. We all looked at each other in Mark's kitchen and said "That's It". I can still play but now I just piss off the neighbors once in a while and record for my KZbin rarely. Be Blessed

@@gayleallen7217 Timing is everything. We were the right guys in Austin, the industry was right and the world welcomed us and the buzz got around. We could feel it happening and the crowds just kept getting bigger. Yngwie Malmsteen was in town recording the Dynasty album. He and band came to see every gig. To not be so intimidating playing guitar solos in front of him I remembered great advice Joey from Sweet Savage gave me: "get over being nervous cause when you are on stage those in the audience are wishing they were on stage." I don't know why we didn't ever have him join us on stage. We hung out with those guys all the time and when we were Onyxx I saw Nikki Sixx and Vivian Cambell in the crowd and had them play with us. Oh yea, maybe because Yngwie and I were dating Swedish Models.... the same one.

Jason and I went to see Guns with 200 people in San Antonio on their first tour. They were playing a Bob Dylan cover and I was trying to impress some girls telling them about my New Band Dangerous Toys from Austin. The girls were not impressed, said they hadn't heard of us. Axl was putting the mike down into the crowd to sing "Knocking on heavens door". When he shoved it in Jason's face he rocked it an octave above Axl. I turned to who would become my girlfriend and said "That is my new singer". Slash walked over in front of AXL and gave Jason a big thumbs up.

@@Buckeye_4_Life_ Billy White(Watchtower Guitarist) and I were good friends. So when I gave Onyxx the ultimatum to leave her manager or leave the band we needed a new singer. I saw him do a sound check with my roommates band and covered Cinderella's "Shake Me" I was like WOW. After all the watchtower rehearsals and shows I never had noticed, and I was looking for a Brian Johnson (ACDC)singer. So I asked him to sing till we found a singer. 6 Months later we had a record deal. In order for us to sign I had to confront him about leaving the band he was in for 7 years playing every couple months or join us to do what he wants to do: make a living making music. He has hated me ever since. Kill the messenger of the truth. Today, of the 15-20 bands he has been in he is Jason from Dangerous Toys. Look at my other comments on this site for a laugh, it was a long time ago.
