Bourbon Country Reacts

Post-release edit: If you witness child abuse or neglect, PLEASE report it to YOUR STATE's child protective services or appropriate state agency. Abuse/neglect is largely handled at the state level. Appropriate numbers are just a simple google search away. IF YOU SEE IT, REPORT IT!! Save a life.

I mean, there wasn't anything that could have been done. You can't help someone who doesn't come out and tell people they're being abused. Abuse isn't always noticeable, remember, she was covering her bruises, meaning the teachers probably didn't know. Dud's daughter was probably the only friend she told she was getting abused, but by then it was too late. When he went to report what his daughter had heard, she was already killed. Regardless of trying to save someone, not everyone can be saved.

The true story in this video was a teacher playing that song for his class and having students leave the class in both anger and sadness. It states in the video after its over that they had a couple students step forward to report domestic abuse.

I've reached out to some heavy-hitting assets in the child protection world looking for a national number that's "established" as a solid one. (So we can add it to the vid description.) The word I'm getting is that aside from the CMEC, all of that work is handled at the state level. So for legit numbers, there are 50 of them. All any national org could do is refer to the appropriate state.

The ppl of country music CARE about bringing awareness to these types of abuse. If they can make more ppl FEEL things with these songs, the more that those ppl might actually help do something about it. More genres should have as much integrity

Country music tells a story. Sometimes it is used to bring awareness to deep issues that people don't like to talk about. It can also be used to help people deal with things. A good example of that is Craig Morgan's My Father, My son, and the Holy Ghost. It is about losing his son and having to live everyday.

I was always at my kids elementary school. I was room mother, library, health room, I saw and loved so many kids. One day the principal came to me and asked “ can you take $&#@ home with you.” Yes absolutely, I scooped that child up and took him for a burger, then on to TJMaxx for clothes, he/her hid his face the whole time. Then I picked up my kids brought them home and they played the rest of the day. We had that sweet child for 8 months, the county took the child and we begged to the child stay.

This song brings a “shameful “ topic right in your face. As someone who went through multiple abusive foster homes this song made me feel seen when I was young. It’s not the victims shame it’s the perpetrator’s, talking about it is the only way we can face it and hopefully make changes. Foster kids and abused kids have no voice and no rights to stand up for themselves. I live in Montana and it’s still legal to hit your kids as long as it doesn’t leave a bruise after 48 hours. Abuse is abuse. I really appreciate your reaction. These kids need more people to care enough to change the “CPS” system.

Yea, country music is usually all about the heartstrings. The favorite themes are Love, Loss and Country. You wont hear a genre of music that is as parotitic as country is. The love songs are as pure as it gets too, and when they write about loss and serious matters....it will get you every time! I would recommend the songs, Tim McGraw: The Highway Don't Care. Tim McGraw: Don't Take The Girl. Lonestar: I'm Already There!!! Such a great song!

I went to school with Jason and I love watching the reaction videos to this song, cause it is bringing this horrible issue to light and helping people to “see something, say something” my daughter has a friend that confided in her that she and her sister was being abused, by her mom (who was a substitute teacher) my daughter came to me and told me and showed me the text that she and her friend was having and in those messages the friend told my daughter that she was going to unalive herself that night and she very well tried it. It scared my daughter so bad, so she came to me about it, and I immediately called 911 and sent them the text log and the address. The cops went immediately and got her to the hospital just in time, she did live and the law took it from there. What was even worse was that my daughter was NOT the only person she had told about the abuse and what she had planned to do, and that cry for help fell by the wayside. To say I was and still am VERY VERY proud of my daughter is a understatement. “SEE SOMETHING DO SOMETHING” even if you don’t believe what is being said, cause it can and does save lives.

Sometimes people can't do anything when people won't let you. Last year around Thanksgiving a little boy in my son's class on zoom used a trash bag full of clothes for a chair. I noticed his background and this day they were talking about what they did and this little boy was so excited that his grandmother was able to save enough to get him a cheeseburger from McDonald's for his Thanksgiving. Turned out this family was hit hard with covid and they were starving. I asked the teacher if we could please help this family. I could get them food within the hour I just please need the name or address something anything. The school refused to give me anything and said that family is alright and times are hard for everyone. I kept begging they moved my son from that class so I don't know how that little boy is.

All this nasty media and the craziness in the world its nice to know there are real folks with compassion and real feelings in their hearts. So songs like this and Martina's music kind of hit close to home and at the same time remind us that there are people out there who care and give a damn about others.

That's the true story. Where the teenager who is being abused left the room and the teacher followed her out where somebody him did something for the abuse teenager. And that program and it's growth in high schools and spreading throughout the country. That's the true story. It doesn't take away from the video story about Alyssa that thing happens absolutely no doubt been in that world myself. However the Alyssa part is the catalyst to the journaling true story. Country music is about telling stories. Buy it also tries to make people aware that abuse happens. Yes, the blonde is the singer. He was runner up or 3rd place, or something on American Idol. He has a song called "Where I'm from" that's a lil more upbeat. I have no friends! 🤪 okay, I do but we're scattered across the country...

you never even called me by my name by david allen coe, the "perfect" country song. (you'll understand if you listen to it 😁). anything by home free, an amazing country acapella band. you know what you get when you play a country song backwards?........you get your wife back......you get your dog back....and you get your truck back!... would love to see you react to The Hu , Wolf totem with Jacoby Shaddix from papa roach, they are a Mongolian heavy metal band. different but fun

No, this isn’t all country music’s about, anymore than it’s all rock is about. Country music talks about life in all its aspects, good, bad, and ugly. I suspect you’ve been getting some of the more depressing songs because people are wanting to show the impact country music can have. That it’s not all “my baby left, my truck blew, and my dog died”. Here are some lighter-side recommends to cleanse your palate: Chris Cagle - Chicks Dig It, Brad Paisley - I’m Gonna Miss Her, Trace Adkins - Songs About Me,

this song goes very well when listened back to back with Martina McBride's Concrete Angel, though i can see from my recommended list you already did a react to that song. but listen to those songs back to back and it's like a one-two-KO punch to the gut. tack on John Michael Montgomery's Little Girl and you are down for the count.

Hey fellas you didn't finish the video the true story wasn't the song it was what happened in the class room of students listening to the song the female student that left the room suddenly that the teacher went to check on was a victim of abuse and the song convinced her to find finally tell someone about the abuse she cinfide in that teacher who was able to get her the help she needed and save her from the situation she was in if you guys would have looked at the time bar on the video you would have seen there was about 45secs left if I can give you some advice always check the time remaining on music videos because many music videos have extra things at the end of the song especially if it's a storyline that plays out over a series of songs

One of the ways I've heard country music described as three chords in the truth. Sometimes it makes you sad sometimes it makes you cry sometimes it makes you so angry you can't see straight and sometimes it makes you so happy you can't be anything else. Right now I would love to hear Toby Keith courtesy of the Red White and Blue and angry Americans.

@@dalefleming6427 We have a huge list of requests we manage. Dustin keeps pretty meticulous track of it. We know the next few we're going to react, but we usually plan a few out, then re-evalute. It's 100% based on what you guys request. There's actually a considerable amount of work that goes into keeping track of it all. Regardless, we do kinda keep "upcoming" under wraps. The closest we get to telegraphing what's coming, is if someone requests one we know is upcoming, we'll give 'em a "stay tuned" reply in the comments. - Keith
