I finally watched the movie and i was somewhat offended by Segel's interpretation of DFW. It seemed like the main portrayal he hung on was a sad man being sad. This is most likely my own bias after listening to several interviews of Wallace in the past months. The portrayal almost felt reductive to me. I dunno, maybe i painted s different picture in my mind and the near-terminal conjuring by Segel felt like it was leaning to far into the foreshadowing of the death announced at the beginning of the film. I have my biases and i applaud Jason Segel for approaching the role, but it missed something for me. I'm happy to take full consequences of my criticism of the role should we ever bump into each other
