It's fun to watch Jason Statham kicking ass, but it's also fun to watch him actually act. He can do the emotions, and he has a charisma and a stage presence that make him magnetic on screen.

In the director's commentary, they said they really, really wanted James Hong for the character of Han Jiao because he's so iconic and familiar that he makes the perfect grandfather figure yet can also be convincingly ruthless and evil.

Such a fun movie... and a Statham movie that seems to get overlooked at times. one of my favorite movies openings-to have Statham on the subway's edge and with seeing Mei the first 30 minutes is all flashbacks on those two on how they both got to that moment. So well done

For the last twenty years, guys like Jason Statham and Bruce Willis have made me feel much better about sporting the bald look. I offer to give all my friends haircuts when they get shaggy, but to this day, no one has taken me up on it. Still, no matter what anyone may think about the bald look, I think we can all agree that being bald is way sexier than a comb-over. LOL. Great review of a great movie! ❤

Did you know I actually went bald for a while myself?! A woman who was a mother to me, had cancer and lost her hair. She had long hair that went down to the lowest part of her back. I shaved my head with her. She beat it and we grew our hair out together. She passed months later and our hair looked exactly the same. I wont cut my hair now after that, because now I feel like it's hers. 😊❤. My connection to her. But I loved the bald look.

In fact, after reading your reply, it makes me like you even more! What a cool way to show your love for your friend! That's the best! 💖 I'm truly sorry to hear about her battle with cancer, as I've lost my father and many of my very close friends to it, so I know how powerless and sad it can make someone feel. The only good that can really come from dealing with cancer is to learn to appreciate the short time that we have and to relish each and every day with the people who have positively touched our lives and made our days more special. People like you, Toy! ⭐ Even though we have never met in person and we probably won't before we shuffle off this moral coil -- unless I win a lottery -- I really am glad to have gotten to know you as a person from seeing you online and reading your great comments. @@waterbeauty85 It literally has everything you need in a classic action flick. Like you said from characters, action and so forth. When I saw it I was mind blown cause I knew nothing about it. I think people don't know about it because at some point, pure action movies started to become out of fashion. People only went to see the big blockbusters. And it's a shame because there are real gems like these. Redemption is also great. And Blitz. (both have lame names though! lol )

Safe easily one of the most underrated Jason Statham movie and it's really on another level as far as action. The characters are also pretty great. Another great underrated Jason Statham movie is Hummingbird(in other territories the title is "Redemption"). You should check this one out as well.

I'm not sure if this has a sequel, but if you're a Jason Statham fan you must see the "Transporter" series. His latest release "The Beekeeper" (2024) is really good, and you may also enjoy "Redemption", good movie. I prefer "The Mechanic Resurrection" over the original, but that's just me. Lots of Jason Statham out there to enjoy :).

As far as I can tell there is not a sequel to Safe. Sometimes you don't need a sequel. One movie tells the whole story. What's the deal with Boo sneezing? What are y'all doing to that poor cat?

If you start liking Jason Statham, you should watch Spy (2015). It's a Melissa McCarthy vehicle and an action comedy, but Statham plays a parody of himself and he's just brilliant.

The 2010 South Korean movie "The Man From Nowhere" has a similar theme with the added bonus of Korean kid acting (which is known for its exceptional quality) and Filipino martial arts (because the director wanted a style that looks lethally efficient rather than flashy). You should check it out.
