The killing of Daisy was actually a stroke of genius for this kind of movie. With a character like John Wick being able to deliver the level of revenge that he is capable of, Daisy's death gives the writers a blank check. After that, John Wick can do no wrong.

@itzryder8409 Honestly, this may be the first time I had seen anyone suggest that people didn't pick up on what the dog represented. It's quite obvious. John Wick literally expresses it in the movie. However, many other things could have represented the same thing. If someone stole her wedding ring, would it have had the same impact on the audience? Not likely. It's the intersection of the killing of the dog AND what the dog represents that gets the audience so invested.

Fun Fact: When John goes to the Club to kill the kid and starts with the bodyguard outside, He says, "You've lost weight" and Francis Replied "Over 60 pounds". This was actually a test AND a code between the two. John was testing him to see if he would help him (which is why he lets him go and tells him to take the night off) and Francis replies Over 60 pounds (or 27 kilograms), a code for nearly 27 security guys/henchman protecting the boy. This is also being used in the military forces around to world too. VERY cool way to again show us how much of a badass and how respected John Wick is. Also thee one thing I like about Keanu Reaves is the amount of effort he puts into a role. You can find videos of his training sessions for these movies where he spends countless time at a gun range training with all sorts of guns to the point where he knows how each gun he handles will behave IRL and will actually handle them accordingly for things like checking to ensure the weapons are not jammed. You will see him handle a pistol in the second John Wick movie where he will kinda toss the gun in his hand a little to press down on the chamber because the pistol he is using at that time is known for having bullets getting jammed and is checking the chamber to make sure it is clear enough to fire. Keanu also went through 4 months of training, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to bring his character to life. He also went through Judo, Japanese Ju-Jutsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So Keanu is that accurate and deadly in real life. You can find a few videos of his trainings with a company known as Taran Tactical. Keanu also had help from former Navy SEAL and CIA Contractor Shawn Ryan.

The local cops also knew the mob guys had rules and if those rules were broken then the mob would deal with them. It was the FBI that went after the mob. Keanu Reeves did many of his own stunts. There are videos on KZbin where he practiced for weeks with the stuntmen he ‘fought’ on screen, earning their respect and admiration. I think he bought motorcycles as gifts for all the stuntmen afterwards. There are also videos of him on a gun range, shooting live ammo, going through an obstacle course, reloading ammo at incredible speed to continue shooting. John Wick spared Francis the doorman bodyguard, because he gave him a ‘heads up’ info. The amount of weight he lost was codeword for how many gunmen were inside the Red Circle protecting Iosef. Did you recognized Iosef as Theon Greyjoy from Game of Thrones? The new dog was scheduled to be put down. In the end John Wick saved someone.

At its core, this is a love story. And the puppy crawling to John's side is the most touching thing ever. Also, the dog at the end of the movie is Keanu's actual dog. The world of John Wick is one of violence and order, as organized crime has been for centuries. But it's hard for criminals to abide by rules. Iosef has no concept of boundaries, because he thinks his father's power will be his one day. Viggo understands what it takes to be powerful, but he cannot suppress his greed and ego. Most other people in Wick's world understand the importance of maintaining order. The cop, for example, knows that John kills a lot of bad people. It's worth noting that John was barely polite to Perkins - I suspect he was aware of her capability for breaking the rules.

This movie is almost perfect except for 3 things: 1. Baba Yaga doesn't mean boogeyman. It literally translates to something like "grandmother witch." 2. Theon Greyjoy yells at his friend to stop playing video games, presumably because the sound of gunshots is getting to him, except his friend is wearing giant headphones so Theon wouldn't be able to hear anything. Seeing as how nothing else is happening, it would actually be pretty quiet where he is. 3. I wish they had given John a reason to stab himself, like he sees Vigo reaching for a concealed gun or something and can't deal with the knife situation in time. Because as it stands, John is wrestling with an old man and despite the fact that the old man isn't overpowering him in any way, John lets himself be stabbed, almost certainly just so we can have the opening scene with John "bleeding to death."

Producer's note: thanks for watching with us! The Russian spoken in the film oftentimes doesn't line up with the subtitles. For example, when the subtitles say "it was just a f-n dog," Yosef actually says "go f-k yourself." Also, the lullaby his father sings when the hitmen are hitting John's house is nothing like the translation on the screen.

A lot of people don't realize that each of those gold coins are typically one troy ounce (slightly over an ounce) a piece. Today, that is $2000 a coin. When the movie was made, gold was at, roughly, $1200 a troy ounce. He paid $14,400 to dispose those bodies.
@TheTurinturumbar8 ай бұрын
If they're only worth as much as the gold.
@benn4548 ай бұрын
@@TheTurinturumbar That's how specie currency originally worked. Fiat (paper) currency was originally backed by an equal amount of actual gold in a government vault. However, the US and UK abandoned the gold standard in the 1930s.
@TheTurinturumbar8 ай бұрын
@@benn454 Indeed. That does not, however preclude the possibility that these coins can buy goods, services or products that no other form of payment can. In a growing market the value would be higher than it's constituent gold. Right? Seems logical to me. Like you could buy a bar of gold with a single coin maybe.
@benn4548 ай бұрын
@@TheTurinturumbar Maybe. As far as I know, the coins' value is never definitively established. The characters treat them more like you would goods in a barter system than anything else. Any time you need someone to do something for you, you give them a coin, regardless of the nominal value of the favor.
@TheTurinturumbar8 ай бұрын
@@benn454 yeah, like to get through the door cost a coin as did the removal of a body and mopping up after. Seems a bit more thought should've gone in to it. Could argue that the door was for identification though.

John trained for months on everything practically. The cat driving, the jui jitsu, the guns, the choreography of the fights. He did not do the stunt where he’s thrown over balcony in the Red Circle. Dean Winters has extensive body of work. (He’s not just Mayhem). He was in Oz, Law and Order SVU. You should check him out in the Matrix 🤙🏽 This was the film 2 directors who were new. Willem Davoe said to them that he should be having a juice when Viggo comes by, because he’s an older assassin and has to keep up with the kids. The brand new directors 😮said ‘OK’ They were happy to take direction from good actors.

The Bouncer ("Francis") was WWE Legend Kevin Nash ("Diesel"). "Perkins" (Adrienne Palicki" is Known from the Sci-fi Series "the Orville". Those "Doubloons" were the currency of the Continental and the "Table" it serves under. Each One is worth between $2000 to $5000, and Unique coins are made for the High Council and management.
@tomaskennedy8 ай бұрын
17:37 "Dinner reservation for 12" was code for "12 bodies to be disposed of". Later, at the Red Circle, when the doorman tells John how much weight he’s lost, he’s actually tell him how many guys are inside, waiting for him. That’s why John lets him go. Everything in this world is in code.
@mikeraynard91167 ай бұрын
The continental has rules including not killing on the grounds, so it couldn't have been the bar he killed 3 guys with a pencil. Also, the coins aren't diblooms they are a known currency in the network run through the continental. Watching the other films will show how deep the network goes. Also, if you go on KZbin you can watch him training for the movies, he really did get proficient for them.

8:20 - They didn’t do it. The implication is that the puppy literally dragged her dying body to be next to John before she passed. You can tell by the blood trail, making the situation all the more heartbreaking…
@nightdagger5 ай бұрын
Oh, and also, the scene in the Red Circle...note that John is an extremely effective killer with precision aim and no real wasted movements or actions. So when Iosef goes running behind the glass and John shoots at him and misses four times, what happened there? John missed deliberately. He doesn't just want Iosef dead. He wants him panicked, running for his life, scared for his very soul, and regretting ever having crossed the "fuckin' nobody" that turned out to be the devil incarnate, and only after he's terrified him to his very core and yanked every single semblance of hope from him does he want him dead. He could have killed Iosef at any point he wanted to in the Red Circle, but it wouldn't be as satisfying as letting him escape and living his last few days in sheer terror.
@R151NG5UN3 ай бұрын
That part where John spared Francis, he spared him because Francis revealed the number of enemies. "Dvadtsat' vosem' kilogramm" is Russian for "Twenty eight kilogram" which does work out to be over sixty pounds, but more importantly there were twenty eight security personnel in the club..

The gold coins are a social contract not real currency. It has several different meanings. When he gets to the Red Circle Francis actually says he lost 28 kg, 28 the number of guards. The dog he rescued is actually his dog IRL. When he is walking away in the last scene he is walking past where Helen collapsed. There are a lot of references and nods to The Matrix. The doctor is the Key Master, no more hints so no spoilers but keep looking.

So many reactors miss two things. 1) john stabbed himself, but where he was already wounded earlier during the red circle fight to minimize the damage while still gaining control of the knife 2) in the final scene when he is walking away with his new dog, it's the same boardwalk he was on in the beginning of the movie when his wife collapsed. So the movie comes full circle on two points. The man of devotion, commitment, sheer will part, but also he is walking with his new replacement for his wife's final gift on the last place they walked together while still holding onto his unspoken commitment to her to live something/someone else because she asked him to

15:10 Keanu Reeves spent a LOT of time training with firearms and performing martial arts specifically to make the John Wick combat and weapon manipulation as realistic as possible, huge respect for Keanus dedication to his craft and that aside everything I've seen about him shows he's a really classy guy 16:06 from Keanu himself, he doesn't do stunts he does action, every thing you see of John is Keanu up until the point he gets thrown off buildings or hit by cars 30:15 looks like Oxy, not an expert, could be wrong but based off of context it's safe to assume it's an opioid of some kind
