Jason Vieaux is simply one of the best contemporary classical guitar players! This version of Tristeza não tem fim is quite demanding, technically, yet he interprets and performs it masterfully as ever. What a joy to listen to! Thanks so much for sharing.

I love that Vieaux is comfortable shucking off the stodgy over serious nature and just gets into the music.

After all these years, I keep coming back to hear this rendition. I love the pace, the phrasing and clarity. He's the only one who I've heard that played this piece that brought out so clearly the E (mi) on the 113th bar (the 3rd to the last bar). Really awesome!

Love it Jason plays it with the “brazilian charm”,.Only Baden Powell had achieved this unique beat. But Baden was brazilian And now we have another guitarist ( with a perfect classical tecnique) playing brazilian music with the “bossa-nova” in his soul and hands! Oh God bless you Jason !! Thanks a lot. Please play more some “bossa nova” songs 😊

I discovered Jason this morning in the parking lot outside Home Depot where I went to buy netting to stop birds from eating my tomatoes. I had turned on the radio without any thought, out of habit, and this guitar playing. I knew in an instant it was Jobim, but Jobim played in a way I'd never experienced before. I was held spellbound until the music ended. And tonight I found the song by searching Felicidade guitar. That's all. Thank you for the beauty you've added to Jobim.

Wow! What a great interpretation. The Jobim classic, played as a swinging samba. Mr. Vieaux has spectacular articulation and beauty in his fingers. Heard this on public radio's "Performance Today" and then found this video. Would love to hear him do a whole show of Brazilian songs.

I watched this video, finish my coffee, walk outside with my guitar, smashed it several times into a thousand pieces, put in the trash, came inside and lay on my kitchen floor in a fetus position all night.

Saw him play it live in Mesa, AZ 4 months ago. It was perfect, just like this. I have the score in front of me right now, following him, and let me tell you it is a lot more difficult than it sounds.

The really great man here is Roland Dyens... I play classical guitar and if you study long enough for a piece, you can play everything you want... But composing and arranging pieces... Wow that's really great!

+John Mettler This song was written and composed by the master of bossa nova, Antonio Carlos "Tom" Jobim. Not by Roland Dyens. The lyrics is as awesome as the melody and the arrangements.

+Edson Lopes esta execução, como algumas outras encontradas aqui no KZbin exatamente idênticas, são baseadas nas partituras originais da música. O arranjo não é dele, é o original para piano, adaptado no violão.

Very well played by a superb and conscientious… classical guitarist. Yet something is missing here. The thing is: during the performance the guitar player is supposed to develop some upper body contortions, head balancing to and fro and feet frantically tapping, gradually increasing these corporal movements until, unable to control himself and sit still, he rises from his chair and, while playing, moves around in the studio so enthusiastically that two scantily clad Brasilian ‘garotas’ (preferably from Ipanema) are enticed to come out from the wings, smoothly weave their way towards the musician, samba around him with rhythmically swaying hips and, near the end of the piece, each take an arm and disappear with him towards the sunset in the background, while the soothing sounds of billowing ocean waves can be heard. Felicidade.

Indeed. And there's no wacky hat. How can you play cool music without a jaunty hat, because the hat tells everyone you are cool. And there aren't any sunglasses indoors. Surely without shades the musicality is halved! You missed the bit about closed eyes. As we know you have to close your eyes, look upwards and swing your head side to side, otherwise you clearly can't play! Yet somehow Jason manages to play just as well, even better, without these vital mannerisms that we know add value to the listening experience ;)

I think you can find a better arrangement; this one is too labored and overplayed as well by too many; see this one for an example of a much better arr. and in keeping with the feel of the theme (for me); A Felicidade (Tom Jobim) ~ Samba de Orfeu (Luiz Bonfá) by Chiba Kose
