Adam is in Nashville and talks to Jason Whitlock about the power of Nike and China’s influence on the NBA. Jason thinks men should stop apologizing and considers the BLM movement to be a sex issue rather than a race issue. The guys also talk about gratitude, religion, and living in Nashville. Lastly, Jason explains why he thinks Michelle Obama will be a presidential candidate in the next election.
Adam then meets up with Derek Bieri from Vice Grip Garage. The guys chat in a parking lot outside as they look at one of Derek’s restorations- a 1981 GMC shop truck. Derek shares his history working on cars and the guys talk about the evolution of trucks, all the way to the Tesla Cybertruck. Derek talks about racing a Crown Vic and why he prefers to find old cars and give them new life.

Derek Bieri is the poster boy of common sense. He personifies what a red blooded proud American Dad should be. He's a younger version of the Dads and uncles we all looked up to growing up. He took an idea and worked hard doing something he knows and loves and has become very successful. He loves his family and his Country. Men do men things and we need to continue that. AND it includes standing up for what is right and not cowtowing to this woke nonsense so many weak people are bowing to.

For anyone that doesn't know, Derek got his start with his Vice Grip Garage youtube channel. Sucks that they never gave him a plug for that, only the corporate sponsorship, but it was great to see a discussion between these two. Vice Grip Garage is one of the best, funniest, and most wholesome car related channels on the tube. Been watching since he had about 10K subscribers. Derek and his family deserve every bit of reward they have gained from all that hard work.

I accidently stumbled on Derek's Vice Grip Garage channel at the beginning of C-19 in early 2020. I believe at the time he had somewhere around 20K subs, and thought, hey, this guy must be pretty good with that many watching his show. Being an old car guy myself, this was right up my alley so I subbed and started following VGG. To see how Derek has grown as a human being and his personality being one that you want to gravitate to, totally explains the almost 1.8 million subs he has now. And he deserves every single one that sees what I/we saw when we first tuned in. He has his own language vocabulary and it's addictive to us fellers and fellettes. His knowledge of mechanics is second to nobody. I always get a kick out of his disclaimer at the beginning of every episode that says " I'm an idiot. Do what I do at your own risk." Then says this channel is more about entertainment than it is educational. It's actually both, heavily leaning on the educational. I've learned more about wrenching from this guy than I've learned my entire life. Incredible talent when it comes to working on cars. (actually anything that has a motor and at least a couple wheels) You can see his love for his family and his country in every episode. He's the guy you always wish was your next door neighbor. What a neat dude to just hang with. Plays a mean guitar too. But one of his best talents is behind the scenes in how he puts his shows together with the filming and editing. I've done a little of this myself and know what's involved, and yet he makes it look so easy. It isn't. Believe me. And when he has to drive the vehicle he's resurrected back home 600 miles, the music he chooses as we watch the sped up video travelling down the road is always top shelf. It adds so much to the whole show. It was really nice to see him on Adam's show. Only wish we could've heard more from Derek for those that may not have known about him. He's quite a character. Whether you like cars or working on cars, I promise you'll enjoy his videos. And his wife Jessica has a nice channel called Vice Grip Lodge that covers all kinds of neat topics. Such a talented family. Keep up the great job guys. I wish you all the best. Think I'll go have a wobble pop now. 😄

My Brothers and I used to go to the bone yards on the weekends hunting parts to keep our stuff running, we would swap out parts till we got something to work. We were so poor, we would find break pads off the wrecked cars and sand them down on the sidewalk to get them as true as we could and that's how we did it! We had the greatest era to grow up in, muscle cars were cheap to buy, 3K got you an SS Chevy something, and a summer of mowing lawns got it running nice, so you could go to school and look cool! The Bone yards were over stuffed with muscle car glories that only required a few bucks and a few hours work, and you could really have something! I sure miss that now!

Derek posted his first youtube video 5 years ago, filmed on his phone in the garage of his home in MN. Now his channel is nearing 2 million subs, he's got the television show, a massive shop in Nashville, and getting to meet people like Adam Carolla. America...what a country!

I’ve noticed that too. And men are in a crisis of identity now too. Look at the drug addiction and suicide rates. How do we dial this back?

I think i recently this guy on vice grip get a 70's lime green vette running that had been sitting in the tall weeds for decades under a leaky cover and then drive it (with parking lot repairs along the way) back home 750 miles. He used zip ties and tape to keep the flip up lights open and did some hard wiring to bypass broken switches and removed some parts to maintain gas flow. Not sure what he did with it, after but impressive work just to get it home. He buys the same cars and trucks i would love to restore and keep. I think i also watched him do the same thing with a firebird recently.

WOW! I've never been a fan of Whitlock, but after watching this I see that I just don't like his sports takes. Love this dude! He makes Corolla seem mainstream. Also, everything Whitlock is saying is genuine and thought out from a serious point of view. Corolla's takes on things are all based on anecdotal evidence and with an aim for comedy. These two together, utterly disaffected by one another's opinions, having a meaningful conversation is refreshing.
