That tool is a Ford tractor pitman arm seal remover, linoleum knife. Looks like it works best for the first one. Thanks Jason. Thanks for the new content.

"Every tool is the right tool if you know how to use it " is a good quote . Enjoyed the video . On the seals I try to use 2 if I can to have double protection if possible . I know it may seem like a waste but with the seals as thin as they are it dont hurt lol .

Yep I actually my go and put another in. Actually I probably could get away with sticking a new one in with the old seal,but that would of made a boring video. 😆

@@Jason1Pasecond one can be put in with the lip outward, this keeps outside dirt from entering, thus the inner seal stays clean!

I believe that's called a linoleum knife. We use them to cut rolls of sod to size for new lawn installations 😂 I've noticed the seals on my H were way smaller than the originals too. Great video!!

Thanks Chris! Yes unfortunately the seals of today just aren't the same. Kind of sad.

I attempted to rebuild the steering box on out Jubilee back when I was still in high school. What a disaster that turned into, lol. My buddy did carpet work he always called that tool a duck knife, he used it to tuck the new carpet under the trim. I believe its called a linoleum knife. Good video as usual!

These boxes require a lot of patience and some trial and error. Fortunately I found this one in a junk yard that has zero slop in it. I didn't do anything to it until now. It's been on there for 2 years.

Great video work. My NAA steering box has a lot of play from side to side when turning steering wheel. Does box have adjustment to take out play? Is there a way to add oil to box? Thanks
@Jason1Pa2 ай бұрын
@calvaryassemblyofgodsouthi8046 Yes the stud with a locking not on either side of the box will adjust slop. That is if it isn't too worn-out. There is a bolt on the right side that can be removed and squirt oil into or probably better yet corn head grease

Where do we order the seal and O-Ring? And the felt seal, where do we order that? This is an excellent youtube just need the parts!

@benkanobe7500 Everything Ford related in my videos the parts are purchased from Just8ns. com
@benkanobe75006 ай бұрын
@@Jason1Pa Thank you for the wonderful how to video as my tractor is leaking in that exact spot and I see so many others doing the same. On a chance, I tried Just8ns before getting this and they did not list the seal by that number but one digit higher. So I purchased two and in the notes explained I did not find the pitman arm steering shaft seal when I searched but found the one I purchased and if it wasn't correct to please advise me. They are good folks so I suspect they will fix it if I made a mistake. Thanks again and I look forward to more videos from you!
@Jason1Pa6 ай бұрын
@benkanobe7500 Number:8N3591A should be what you are needing for the seal. If any questions I'd call Derek at Just8ns and ask just to be safe.
@benkanobe75005 ай бұрын
@@Jason1Pa OK. I did. (They did). Your video shows "8N3581B" which is why I was confused. But as stated, the good folks at Just8ns saw I ordered the "8N3591A" as that was what was available in the position picture for that seal so in the end, I have the correct seals. (Now I need to get the correct Felt as what was sent looks nothing like what you installed). Thanks again, excellent video!

Hi! I was watching this bc I recently bought an 8n and it is missing the lock washer and nut on both pitman arms. Is there anything special about those parts or can I just go to the hardware store for replacements?
@Jason1Pa7 ай бұрын
It's unlikely you will find a nut that size a fine tread at a hardware store. I searched through some parts places and to my surprise I don't see new ones. Your best bet is to contact someone that is parting out a 8n to get you some.

Can you tell me what is the purpose of the small lever on the right side under the seat on my 8N?

That is the draft control. It's only used (pushed down) when your plowing with your one or two bottom plow.

@@Jason1Pa someone was saying take off steering wheel fill thru shaft. Is that correct
@Jason1Pa4 ай бұрын
@Peter-od7op A newer style yes. Old style no. However, it is a very time-consuming, in my opinion. I take out the one bolt on the side and use a squeeze bottle. You can also use corn head grease. I personally wouldn't use regular wheel bearing grease. It drys out after a while.
