Railroad Switching At Alter Metal, Then North Thru Downtown Iron Mountain

Part 2 of my chase following ELS 502 and ELS 402 as they switch at Alter Metal before continuing north through Iron Mountain, MI. They have a lot of freight going north after no trains for so long.

I am never shocked at peoples attitude at rail crossings as no better at intersections or pedestrian crossings. good to see ELS busy.

I love the sound of EMDS. I have found a vitamin that you might want to check out. It is called Balance B-100 time release. I only take it three days a week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. With breakfast. The reason I do that is if I take it every day I have a hard time getting to sleep. It helps blood flow and you won’t get as cold. Steven Sipes

Is LP making the traditional OSB products yet or just the new siding? Box cars I believe can handle OSB sheets well.

I'm glad to see you are not being pursued by a hi-rail truck. The Michigan State Police. The Michigan National Guard. Boy Scout Troop 402. Hopefully they have not put chips on your car to trace your moves or implanted one in you. Peculiar to see all the DWC Duluth Winnipeg & Pacific cars going north. CN & cars for GTW Grand Trunk Western were recently delivered so they may be letting a lease to as they were in blue paint a definite non-standard color for them. There was a guy in Menomonie Marinette who shot the daily southbound train and right after the steel shipments like clockwork would be a bulkhead flat wrapped in plastic and a blue DWC car. Keep those videos Broadcasting!

When you thought they had pulled one car...the train stopped for the conductor to close the gate across the rails at Alter Metals then resumed pull the string out unless the conductor was setting switch - do they have two tracks on the spur?

Well safety is not one of the criteria this railroad is concerned about. Putting heavy cars in the middle of the train especially when the very light cars in the front. That can cause a derailment on a curve.

@davidbrown 4823 Jason got in trouble by the police at the accident and the railroad told him just stay back behind the fire truck that’s not right Davidbrown that’s not right is it because he needs to say sorry to the police and the railroad I was not listening

How long is a train allowed to block an intersection?

If the crossings in Iron Mountain aren't working, they should be allowed to honk.

The last thing that a flagger wants is a loud horn while flagging a crossing. Some railroads permit no whistling when a crossing is flagged.
