TY Jason, this is the first time watching a seascape painting, that finally "clicked" for me. The panning in and out of the camera, was a great way to see your brushwork. I love your videos and work, and this one just became my top fave.

I have been watching your video and just recently purchased Windsor oil paint, your paintings are absolutely fantastic and already I have learned so much. I have begun to paint with oils using your tutorial video and I am soooo impressed with my beginning process and thanks Jason for doing these step by step tutorials for us beginning painters of oil. I hope to be able to post my painting when finished in hopes of critique.

I think these types of seascape paintings are great for any skill level painters, even for very first paintings and beginners. They are very easy to follow along with and the effects are surprisingly easy to produce even with a limited pallet, brushes and not much detail they will still generally turn out very pleasing and encouraging because they are very forgiving. And once you have the general concept down you can easily recreate these seascapes to practice techniques, effects and try different colors and adding details.

Hi Jason, I totally love your painting style. To me you are the next Bob Ross. One thing I would like to see is some floral type paintings, as I have been learning from various other painters of landscape and floral scenes, and would love to see your unique style and usage of colors that you would use. Also keep more paintings coming, I look forward to seeing more great pictures from your easel. :-)

Jason I think you found what you're really good at! These paintings with the black canvass using only a handful of colors shows your talent at mixing colors. I painting you did with the mountain using only Prussian blue and white was your best one, until this painting. Stellar job. Heck, I think you should try a forest scene using just green and blue with a single bright spot in the distance at the end of a path.

Hey guys, sorry about that! My notification box has been malfunctioning or something..I don't know why!! But anyway, it actually went great! It was much more simple than I thought it would be. It's crazy how beautiful only those 2 colors can create so much interest & dimension; almost like a prism of colors. I recommend trying it! :) Just take your time & let the brush do all of the work! ;)

Just a suggestion, please go into more detail on your initial setup of base colors. You seem to sometimes skip over little details that turn out to be vital to reproducing your great work. This isn't just starting in a black gesso right? We need to see you apply those base colors you like to use with black paintings. Nothing is more frustrating than trying hours to reproduce your work when a little bit more guidance would have made the experience more fun. Thanks for your work now and in the future.

In the beginning of almost every video he links to others that show how to apply the base colors.
@nickpierson950910 жыл бұрын
the base colors are different on every painting. I'm not talking about gesso and liquid clear. I mean the actual colors, the color , and how/where it is being applied.
@myvideos40610 жыл бұрын
I agree
@coryreview10 жыл бұрын
hi, yes I have done a few of these myself Nick. The nice thing is that you cant screw it up too much and by experimenting on your own it will be more of your painting. Most oil paints will list the transperancy or opaquness on the tube, so you can use any of these in a complimentry fashion(color wheels work great) to find what color you think the sky should be, which according to science is the entire color spectrum at one or another point in the day! hope that helps.

Jason, can you tell us your secret with the colors underneath the gesso? So, gesso first. Let it dry. Then liquid clear for oil paints, then tap it with paper, let dry, and then you apply a mixture of colors? And gesso again? I think I would love a video about those hidden colors! Especially blew my mind with aurora painting. About to try myself soon! Please share the secret! :D Anna

Hi Jason, absolutely awesome picture dude. I am just starting out in the wet on wet technique and wondered if you can tell me how this is actually done at the beginning? Is it black gesso then your colour mixture all over the canvas and that’s it or have you applied liquid clear after? Hope you don’t mind answering questions. Amazing work.

I have one question. I see you are using oils. I have both mediums, oils and acrylics. What do you prefer and why? Do you use oils because of the need to blend so much based on your style of paint??
@keirday467610 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, I love your work it has inspired me to try out different styles and colours. For black jesso paintings can you tell me if this is the right order 1. Apply jesso 2. Apply liquin clear 3. Apply base colours for 'magic' effect as in 'two colour sea' My problem is that the base colours cover the jesso so should I put the colours on whilst the liquin clear is still wet or do I thin the colours with oil before applying, your advice would be greatly appreciated, keep up the good work! Keir
@JasonBowen10 жыл бұрын
The order is correct, you need to choose transparent colours for the desired effect. Also I use liquid clear (a Bob Ross Product), while the liquid clear is still wet I add the colours then I dive straight into the seascape (pun intended). Hope that helps :)
@keirday467610 жыл бұрын
Jason Bowen Thanks for the swift reply Jason, forgive my ignorance but what are transparent colours, are they a special type of oil paint/
@trevorbarron745110 жыл бұрын
certain colors are naturally transparent i believe, like the indian yellow and crimson he used in this video are transparent.
