I have watched your videos and have enjoyed them and learn from them. Thank you! I have owned boxers my entire life. My first one I got I was 16 years old. The last one I owned was so special to me. He passed 11 years ago. I finally decided I want and need another dog.(back story) I did alot of research and decided to purchase a Cane Corso. His name is Crowley. He is the smartest dog. The easiest dog to train. Once again I want to thank you for making me aware of this breed. BW and JJ are both so beautiful. JJ is learning so quickly, absolutely amazing. Please keep making people aware of this wonderful breed for the right people.

Awesome explanation Jason. We had our English mastiff first, who is now 6, then our female dane 4, then rehomed a male dane 6 and now have our 6month old bull mastiff. Our English mastiff has always been number 1, and watched him go through what Bruce has gone through with Justice. He didn't want anything to do with the puppy for at least 2 months maybe a little less, and now they are like the best of friends. Please keep up the good work, and love to all 4 of you, would like more vids of Kara and the boys if possible.

He’s right I have multiple dogs a 3 year old corso and a 4 year pitbull and I would treat them the same and I had dog fights almost everyday and it becomes really frustrating specially dogs that size and strong. I had to choose a a leader under me and is a huge difference. Especially around food time and during bed time. Worse mistakes is to think dogs are like kids they’re not at all.

I'm glad you raised that point at the end. Humanizing animal species *other than humans* is ALWAYS a bad plan. Even with our primate relatives. I'm also glad to see you're okay with the hierarchy changing with Bruce being potentially at the bottom, because that is also a part of pack culture. Members get older and pass their primes or they enter their primes (in JJ's case) and they challenge authority. Trying to train against the grain will only lead to pain. I'm a poet and didn't even know it! But yea, good stuff and keep putting those people in their places.

Absolutely there is a hierarchy. When bringing a new dog into the home . We've always greeted the 1st dog first, feed him first and gets attention first. It's true things may change. Our boxer let's our corso take the lead most of the time. We had him 2 years before we adopted her but he adores her. And you can look forward to many fun wrestling matches. Wrestling is there favorite thing to do together.
@UltimoDogLover2 жыл бұрын
We don’t. Because that’s not how they behave in the wild. Wild dog packs scavenge together. Wild wolf packs hunt together. In times of plenty, they all eat simultaneously. In times of scarcity, the leaders (usually a breeding couple) make sure the young subordinates (their puppies) eat FIRST. While dogs will fall into a natural hierarchy, there is a lot of misinformation and misunderstandings about how humans can help and facilitate that. We also don’t give our dominant dog high value things (like raw meaty bones) while withholding them from our more submissive dogs. Certain dogs we will give things SEPARATELY from the others. Worked well for 20 years. I do think it’s fine to make dogs take turns with a resource like Jason did with the none the other day as a training exercise and to ward off food agression. Where Bruce was ALSO required to leave it and let Justice have it for periods.

OMG those cute little Justice play-growls! And wise words on pack hierarchy, oh yes. Always shocks me how often people complain about their dogs fighting; because THEY don't LEAD them, and let their puppies get away with everything. My girls never had a fight, but just to think what could happen if 2 big strong guardian breed dogs of the same sex TRY to solve tensions like that - not good.

I love how cute they play, but a question came to mind when you said that Bruce got over the pun. So I haven't owned a dog I will eventually but personally i would prefer a female and more likely a spayed. I was wondering if Bruce and JJ will maybe get into a fight when JJ will be big enough to also want the pun and how you would handle that? I know it's down the line but if anybody else had experience with this I am curious on how it went dow.

I have four dogs. Three females and a male. There is definitely a hierarchy in the pack, and it keeps things civil when each knows his or her place. Two dogs are pit bulls, one is a pit bull/shepherd mix...and one is a 14 pound female Papillon. The Papillon is the pack leader, and the other three dogs...all between 70 and 90 pounds...have to march to her tune, or else.

So I have a question for that person who felt JJ and BW should be treated as equals in spite of their age difference. Were you raised as being an equal to your parents and older siblings from the moment you came into the family? Or even when you were old enough to verbalize your needs and wants? I'm guessing not. JJ can't learn by osmosis. Just like humans, dogs need time to learn and grow from their elders.
@Owleer2 жыл бұрын
I know few families who have treated their children as equals. Honestly speaking quite a lot of families do that. Had a friend in highschool who family treated all kids as equals right down to portion of food and treats given. It was very sad they struggle in the real world because of how they were raised as everyone gets treated equally. One of their children still struggles till this day as an adult and has issues functioning in a work environment.

Unfortunately my biggest mistake was making our tiny five pound Pomeranian my baby. He bullies my husband ( he lets him) it’s gotten serious sometimes. We have food aggression issues, I can step in and take food away. My husband and son can not. I admire the way you have trained your cane corso beauties! Having a dog snarl when your spouse pinches you is not funny… hubby kinda thinks it is🤣
@elisemiller132 жыл бұрын
@MakeupbyIreneC Sounds like a a lot! you could retrain your dog, would take major work and all would need to be on board, but you yourself would have to be willing to stop treating him like he's your baby. Might want to study some of Cesar Milan's videos for assist.

The pack leader isn't always the biggest dog. My little 14 pound Papillon is the boss in her pack of four dogs. The other three are pit bulls or pit bull mixes, weighing in at 70 to 90 pounds. I foster pit bull puppies, so it was relatively easy to adopt dogs that would fit into her pack. She helped choose the puppies that SHE wanted.
@FullCourtRips2 жыл бұрын
@@GuyWithTheDogs she is a mighty 45 lbs she's dominated German shepherds pits Rottweilers full grown males she could take them down and would out alpha the males it's crazy I haven't ran into a corso in Iowa yet but the German shepherd was 100 pounds plus Rottweiler was a big boy but younger like her at the time I'm getting a corso to protect my fiance and son when I'm not around I just don't think it'd be right if a 45 lb female dog was the alpha of my pack when two dogs would be like 4xs her weight between a corso and my 65 lb aussie pit
@GuyWithTheDogs2 жыл бұрын
@@FullCourtRips Pro tip: The dogs, not you, will decide which is dominant. Size doesn't matter...and very often the female dog will be the leader of the pack, regardless of size.
