We rescued a Cane Corso and he is super intelligent, trained easily to obey commands and the cutest loving dog we have ever had. Hes same blood lines. But ine thing about the Corso usually takes a long time to full mature and fill out like you said 3 MAYBE 4 years ..cant wait to see how big he gets i cant tell yet whst i think

I live in Florida and my GSD loves to swim in our pool. When it warms up in NY swimming is great exercise and the muscle they build is good too . No worries about putting stress on their joints.

Glad you decided to share his growth progression. My Great Pyrenees was 10 wks and 25 lbs when I got him and now he’s 130 at a healthy weight and 11 years old. I completely agree that a giant breed is just a different experience from a regular size dog. I also was very cautious with him regarding heavy exercise and jumping until around 2.

Man this video just helped me so much, my 10 month old male Corso (130lb) has been limping for a week so I made him a vet appointment but he hasn't done anything that could have hurt him so I was confused. When he was about 7 months I rushed him to emergency for a limp and xrays ($600 bill) only for the vet to say he was fine and basically had what would be a sprained ankle for a human. My wife and I have been worried but it could just be growing pains hopefully, and he only limps at times, once we go out he is running like crazy but then may limp a little later on

I read that for each month of a puppy age you can walk them for 5 min. So for example you should walk a 3 months old pup for about 15 min and 6 months old pup for about 30 min, 1 year old - an hour.

My vet said the exact same thing. He had us feed them hi protein u till they were 6 months old and then move to a regular protein for any dog. And I think just will be between 145-150.

I have a cane corso that's 11 months old. He will limp and baby a paw every now and then had it xrayed had a condition called HOD ots common in large breeds because of the rapid growth. 2- 4 weeks of carprofen does the trick but after a growth spurt or rowdy play session he will limp and whine also can be a genetic issue

Probably similar to the size Bruce is. Bigger than the breed standard but his family genetics are outside that size/weight and height range already based on Bruce

My female Corso grew quickly till about 8 months then almost nothing till a year and then she started again. She grew about 10 lbs a month. She grew to 115lbs by 3 years old but she's tall at 27.4 inches at her withers

I love hearing giant breeds weight. It’s just so interesting. I have a Newfoundland we got him at 9w3d and he was 24 pounds. Last he got weighed he was 7 months old and 93.5 pounds! He’s been gaining 10-15 pounds a month. I am curious to see when he starts slowing down on weight gain.

We kinda had a pretty good rule doubling the weight at a certain age. And it's held pretty true giving a variable of 0 to 15 lbs depending on breed size. So for a giant breed I wld cushion the final weight by 12 to 15 lbs. Totally agree with over feeding. Puppies have open epiphyseal plates on the long bones so the bones can grow longer. And your so careful with his playtime, to protect him.

My son is 6'5 and I'm 5'2. He had major growing pains and it stretched his skin. The doctor said his bones were growing faster than his skin an muscles could keep up. So, I'm assuming the same thing happens with large dogs. It's painful !!!!!

I just got a pitbull puppy about a month ago his dad is a Merle Pit his mom is Blue/White Pit. Hes 15 weeks and weighs 38lbs his paws are huge dont know how big he’s gonna get but if I had to guess he’ll be pushing 100lbs which is enormous for any pitbull there usually 60/70lbs.

There's another Corso, owner whose dog is suffering from stroke-like symptoms. The vet seems to say the cause may be unknown, but the owner said his dog was in a sit-stay, jump up from and powered into a run, then came up lame and finally couldn't walk, The dog is paralyzed in the hindquarters, it's truly sad, but seem dogs like your are prone to this, I think they called it FE IDK. Any thought on how you're helping to prevent something like this happen to your beautiful dogs? (I believe his Vet said it could take months for his dog to recover and that about 84% eventually do recover)

JJ at max....145 lbs....that's still a very solid weight as long as he's as big bodied as Bruce. By the way the Cana Corso you have and the Analtolian Sheppard have the strongest bite pressure of any domestic dog. Both are at or near the 735 psi range, or about 3 times that of a Pit or Rottie. The earlier video of Bruce being jumped by that smaller dog at the outdoor coffee shop was fighting to watch for both dogs, but had Bruce gotten a hold of the other dog it would have been devastating. I'm glad it turned out the way it did, but I was holding my breath.

this number for both is incorrect, closet mark is by a calc using skull and jaw size. Highest ever actual record with a bite meter on video is by a smaller sized mastiff in the mid 500's.
