My 1987 Dodge Ram D150 needs new brakes! In our continuing series "The Old Dodge" I go through the process of installing new rear drum brakes, front disc brakes, as well as new front rotors, wheel bearings and bleeding your brakes! Did I screw up?! You'll just have to watch to find out.
A special thanks to the ‪@chrisfix‬ channel. His videos are great and give great detailed instructions on stuff like this:

Shoot, you left out pretty much ALL the important technical info. For instance, on the front discs... how many bolts cone off? Where are they? What do you do with the caliper while removing rotor? How to decompress caliper? How to live up how pass, etc. etc... Your video is pretty much useless. At least you admitted you had no business doing this work. Turns out you had no business making a video either. Ain't no vintage filter for ineptitude!

It's one thing to fail at something like brakes or a video, but you've managed to fail at being a decent human being. You don't like the video? Go watch something else. Jason's a good guy and his videos are entertaining. What a joke.

@@JasonExplainsThings I would hate to think you got charged a grand for a brake adjustment. I just looked up the videos before adjusting my brakes to remind myself which way they go (down tightens when working through the slot in back). there is still the question of how far to tighten if I don't have it jacked up and so can't feel the drag. I expect I tighten it down and back off a certain amount, but what amount? Plus backing off is harder because you need to hold back the ratcheting tank, thereby needing 2 screwdrivers at once.

Fourth video of your I watched. I hope you picked up a copy of the service manual for your year since then; it would cover a lot of items including the one you missed. My 1990 had similar calipers; the new brake pad tabs had to be peened down with a hammer so they would be a tight fit on the caliper else they rattle and knock when in use. Even with the service manual, skimming isn't reading (I skim a lot) and I muffed that the first time! 4WD 8-lug was a PITA compared to yours (which is extremely similar to 1970s Chrysler passenger cars) because the lugs held the rotor to the hub and replacing the rotor ended up requiring a hydraulic press; easy enough to knock the old lugs out but getting the new lugs installed... that was a trial until that trip to harbor freight with a coupon purchased the solution 🤑 Thanks!

I feel like a complete noob asking this BUT you bout the front bearings and seals. During installation you packed it with grease. You inserted something in the back part, then tapped in the seal. Then in the front you said you put the bearing, what did you load in the back? Is there a rear bearing you reused or did you misspeak about outing the bearing in?

Sorry to make so many comments. I have gone through all the night mares, as will you and others. Anyway I wanted comment on the front brake pads, those shims they put on them sometimes slide out, half off the pad, so I just take them off, other wise your pad wears at an angle. just keep an eye on it.

You really skip over some of the steps people come here to actually find out, and spend extra time on the most obvious things. For example, at 4:38, you don’t even show where the retaining clips are because if your body isn’t covering the shot, it’s too dark to see.
