Jason, I have been using your 4Runner maintenance videos for my just bought 2013 Limited. I've done everything PM. I do mean 100K everything. Your help and energy behind the work made all the difference. It motivated this 64 year old. I very much appreciate the use of correct tools for the job (not for cars), and the energetic "let's go" attitude. I truly admire your accomplishments, and wish you well in your endeavors.

I put this exhaust on my 4runner last year because I could not stand the drone of the OEM TRD catback exhaust at highway speeds. The NDT absolutely got rid of that and the exhaust still sounds good.

I appreciate these types of videos. Especially listing out the tools on the outset that helped immensely when I replaced my shocks with the first eibach kit you reviewed. Which is what finally made me go ahead with eibach over a billstein setup. Couldn't have been happier. The onky issue I ran into on that install was the driver side inbound top shock mount nut. It had rounded over. Stupid thing is somewhat angled but got it off with some patience. Also ended up with falken wildpeak at4's in 275.

Actually sounds better than I thought it would. Only thing you left out is how much the system typically retails for. I had a Magnaflow on my GX470 and it sounded great. I'll be looking into this for my 2016. Thanks
@Doc18558 ай бұрын
If I remember a Magniflow costs around a grand. The Flowmaster FlowFX dual exhaust sound about the same and it costs about $750. That’s what I have on my 23 TRD Off Road
@JasonExplainsThings8 ай бұрын
Prices change so I usually don’t state them in videos (because they end up wrong quickly). I believe it’s currently $820.

Was hoping to hear that there was a mild performance benefit for installing the new exhaust. An extra inch or so of exhaust clearance doesn’t justify it for me.

I bought my exhaust used and unfortunately the seller didn't gave the ndt cap. I'm wondering if the ndt cap makes it that much quieter. Also magnaflow doesn't sell that specific part unfortunately
@JasonExplainsThings8 ай бұрын
That too bad.
@ejesoriginal6 ай бұрын
Just to see if it would work, I would just by the cheapest short resonator of the right size I could find and have the muffler shop weld a cap over the end and clamp it on. Some shops might even make you one pretty cheaply if you showed them what it looked like.

Does it drone? I've read several people saying it does drone. Need a replacement for my OEM as it's rusted through. I'd rather get something 309 stainless to last a good while, but if it drones annoyingly on the freeway, I don't think I could live with it. Also, your stock numbers I'm assuming are the stock TRD Pro exhaust dB levels? If so, that's much different than the non-TRD exhaust.
@JasonExplainsThings3 ай бұрын
On an steady incline it can drone a tiny bit. On flat ground or going down hill it doesn't drone at all. If you give it the beans it's fun and loud.

Jason, I didn’t read all the comments but was wondering if the location of the new tailpipe allows exhaust fumes to enter through the tailgate window if it’s down. Thanks

Other than price (i.e., free perhaps?) is there a reason you went with the MF over a Borla system? The dB scale is logarithmic. So, an increase in sound (SPL) by 3 dB results in double the volume. Also, a constant, repeated exposure to 83 dB for 30 minutes or more will result in permanent hearing loss. That 4.4 dB increase in SPL on the highway is significant. You've more than doubled the noise in the cabin and it's at the threshold of causing hearing damage, especially with children as their hearing is much more sensitive than with us adults. So, you might consider adding sound deadening material inside the truck. This video was extremely helpful. Thanks!
@JasonExplainsThings8 ай бұрын
Yes… like I said in the video I did received the exhaust for the video. I’m a fan of the sound and build quality. The sound increase on the highway was mostly wind noise in my opinion… you don’t really hear a difference that much (like my wife said towards the end). I like it, but if exhaust mods aren’t your thing then just pass on it. Glad you enjoyed the video regardless.
@InGratitudeIam8 ай бұрын
@@JasonExplainsThings No need to get defensive, Jason. I was wondering if you would have chosen the MF over the Borla if you had to pay for either system. As far as noise in the cabin, it doesn't matter the source. What matters is the SPL. I do like the sound of the aftermarket system. I'm just pointing out some considerations you need to take into account to protect hearing when measurable levels go above 83 dB, regardless of source.
