I wouldn’t say Beyoncé’s version lacks emotion; rather that her emotions are different because she is at a different point in the relationship than BC Jean sang from in the original. I see and hear a tired, frustrated BEYOND tears and anger, resigned form of acceptance in Beyoncé’s version. By acceptance, I do NOT mean to imply that it’s okay to treat anyone that way OR that the woman is letting things continue as if the relationship were healthy. Having been through this scenario myself, I can easily imagine this song sung from several different viewpoints all held by the same woman, just at different points in time. In my own experience with this kind of pain,, I did eventually accept that I couldn’t change him, and from that point on, I made decisions for myself that were no longer based on the future I once hoped for with him. On on the way to that resigned acceptance, you can bet I felt everything in BC Jean’s version, too ... and now I am somewhere else entirely and feeling strong and much more myself than I ever felt when I was still with the cad. Of course, I might simply be reading into this because I have unfortunately been there. ;-)

Omar Khodr BC Jean didn't fully write this. Yes it was her idea but the mans voice you hear on this mainly wrote it and he also gave Beyoncé's dad permission to use it. Connor Jerry lol, thats the worst excuse for bad singing i ever heard. im pretty sure she herself noticed that she made a mistake too.. the backup singer also followed her in hopes of covering it but but it didnt work. u could still hear it. well, if u understand how music works. see instruments play the music in a certain key, and the singer is supposed to sing in accordance with that key in order for it to be music.. if not then its just noise. music is all about organizing sound. and thats the aim of every musician. thats why she doesnt make the same mistake the second time the chorus came around. coz she knows too that that aint how its supposed to sound. whether its her song or not, the rules of music are what they are. ur argument is something that only somebody with no real knowledge of music would say ... going off key has nothing to do with who wrote what...going off key is what helps distinguish a good singer and a bad one... if u dont understand what going off key is, ill make it easier for u. it means ur voice is not in sync with the music...

@@queefisafunnyword She didn't. BC label rejected it for.her and sold it to Beyonce without her permission or consent. She is credited as a writer however the dispute was over the fact that Beyonce had credits. And was getting a huge amount of royalty points. You listen to the song it's clear Beyonce changed a few words but contributed nothing to the actual creative process. However Beyonce was getting a higher percentage then both she and Colby combined. So she threatened to sue if this was not adjusted. Beyonce team didn't want the trouble so they settled with her. All was well until Beyonce continued to claim she wrote it which created some bad blood. But she had the last laugh when someone leaked the original. Proving that Beyonce was out right lying. That's when Beyonce changed her story and pretty much said she had no idea of the issues behind the song....then why did you claim to write it? And even have an origin story? Idc that she didn't write it I didn't like that she lied. This is when the songwriting issues began to come to light.

This is way better than the Beyonce cover. I listen to metal and hardy ever this type of music but the emotions in her voice really show that sometimes when you hear a song it's more than worth the effort to seek out the original.

Beyonce has always claimed she has co-written every song she has ever recorded. Most of Beyonce's songs has 4 or more writers. She has the whole arsenal of writers, producers and so on. I bet even her self-titled album artwork was planned by nine people - a rip off from AC/DC Back in Black - but AC/DC won't sue Beyonce because it would be ridiculous to claim own the right for black background and basic font.
