Right on. Affiliates need to make sure they have ski ergs and do some “hyrox training” classes. This is a wrapped gift for the business minded gym. Hyrox is a race. CF is a methodology.

Really good conversation with one of the best coaches and all-around great guys in CrossFit! I took the Aerobic Capacity class through CrossFit with Chris a couple of years ago and loved every minute of it. Also love Chris' comments about CrossFit and Hyrox. We're a CF affiliate and we're really excited about the Hyrox events as an opportunity for our members to have a great experience. So many people want to look at life as an either/or experience. Both CF and Hyrox can be wildly successful, and the world will be a better place with both of them doing great. Jason and Gabe - hope we get a chance to run into you in Dallas at the event!

I would recommend to run the early rounds at a lower pace so Jason can do the majority of the high power workouts, then shifting the bulk of the work to Gabe for the 2nd half. Have fun!

I can relate. Taught children swimming and 6 little ones panicked. 3 kids on my head alone trying to stay calm and swim a couple yards was almost impossible. I never stopped swimming after that until I became a lifeguard. Still respected the water 💯!! Been pulled a mile in a undertow, I never swam so long in my life. Never lose respect for the water. So much can happen!

I'm a successful hyrox athlete with no CrossFit background. There are at least six CrossFit affiliates where I live, and none are Hyrox affiliates or advertise Hyrox classes. Such a missed opportunity.

Chris talking about how CrossFit can use Hyrox to help the affiliates couldn’t be more true! Unfortunately right now it’s looking more like CrossFit has some pieces to learn from Hyrox rather than the other way round

I’d actually say this is down to the affiliates not HQ offer a weekend class dedicated to Hyrox style metcons . Also affiliates can also affiliate with both CF & Hyrox and advertise.

Hadn't listed to the end, LOL, ya'll actually said a lot of the same things I was thinking about in my previous comment. Ya'll are going to crush it, Jason as you pointed out, the sled will be nothing for you, I'm 6'2" 220#, and 52, and have minimal sled/heavy dragging/pushing experience, with 7 years of casual CF training (3-5 classes/wk typically plus my other pursuits) and per my wife, apparently I made the sled look easy in comparison to those around me (I had no idea, was just head down working, LOL)... I actually did an extra half-leg before the judges asked "have you already gone down and back twice? (oops)... LOL. One thing Chris didn't focus too much on, as much of the concerns for ya'll seem more running-oriented, is don't kill yourself on things like rowing that little bit extra hard, because literally pushing that extra couple of percentage effort points, is only going to gain you a FEW seconds on the stations (burpee broadjump is an eye opener though, DO THOSE in practice, trust me ... but if you save some of that gas for the run afterwards, that may save you 10s of seconds to have that energy. (Versus someone who isn't highly skilled on the station activities that can improve those times dramatically as "beginners")

This is a SILLY comparison but the AC went out in the kitchen I work at part time and everyone was dying and sweating but I still pushed through and got the work done just fine (I mean I was hot but I wasn’t like going to faint/heat stroke) but I could handle the moving and rush because my box gets very warm in the summer and my garage gym is hardly ever below 85 degrees in the summer ! But it’s conditioned me to handle the heat element

Been trying to get our CF affiliate to offer Hyrox affiliation as well, there aren't many in our area (north of Dallas, so you'd think there'd be some...) as well as potentially Deka. I enjoy doing both (and other hybrid/OCR races, SPartan, Mud Runs, etc) and as a coach at the box, would love to involve more people in the area, I actually get more of my co-workers to participate, than CFers, for whatever reason (doing a triathlon this weekend, one area that CF isn't particularly beneficial for unfortunately, but I just like doing "a bit of everything". I agree with some of hte comments sentiments, NOT offering Hyrox classes, reduces our footprint in what is a brand new growing market. CF is very complimentary to Hyrox (because they do the same moves as pointed out), and the other part, running, anyone can do that whenever/wherever they want.

Hinshaw is absolutely one of the worst commentators CF has ever had. I don’t know why. He’s a smart guy, well spoken on this podcast, a great coach, just an absolute disaster during the games.
