Great video as always! Can’t believe Sirui named the big lens Venus and small lens Saturn, when they had a great opportunity to sort their lenses by size comparable to the planets they’re named after lol
@Djangounframed11 ай бұрын
It’s probably more likely they’re named after the Gods not the planets. The planets were named after the Gods and it’s nothing to do with size. However, I do agree, most people think Saturn big planet, Venus small, and are not really up to par on Roman mythology.

yeah. I guess the Venus lenses were already out and couldn't change the name once they decided to release the Saturn lenses.

In terms of flaring, I find the flares much more controlled on the Saturn set, just got the 50 and 75 today. The venus lenses suffers A LOT from blueish thick flares, even when light source is out of frame. Just becomes alot of blue, to much IMO. Really diggin the saturns!

Yeah I can see the appeal of the Saturn lenses for sure 🎉

Im just happy there are more and more options coming out for anamorphic lenses in general - for more consumer-level users, anyways.

Great video as always, one question you said that you will post in comment diopter lense refence ; unfortunately I do not see it ? Could held me about that. I will received the 50mm carbon in couple days… Thanks in advance

Thanks for the thorough review! It's a real shame the Saturn series have different diameters (especially the fact they're so small)... that's kind of a deal braker if you're used to 72 & 82mm filter threads. Not a fan of constantly having to buy new filters or use adapter rings.

Thanks for the excellent video Jason!! So, I've tried the Viltrox Epic and just loved it. But the price is holding me back, and am looking at Sirui instead. Strictly going by image, how would you rate them? If the Viltrox is better, is it worth that price and size hike or are they similar enough to not notice much difference?

Is it possible to use these full frame lenses with aps-c? Just with a 1.5 crop like spheric lenses?
@JasonMorrisphotocinema11 ай бұрын
You can use these with APS-C cameras or in APS-C crop mode if you really want to.

Optically it would be very difficult but not impossible. The best way at the moment is the lidar system

Any chance you'd be able to compare the Blazar Remus versus the Sirui Saturn? Those are the two I'm looking at for my a7S III.
@JasonMorrisphotocinema11 ай бұрын
I am hoping to get my hands on them
@awa30311 ай бұрын
I'm keen to see results if you compare these too! From videos going around at the moment it looks like the Remus are much softer, far more CA too.@@JasonMorrisphotocinema

Unfortunately the biggest problem with the Saturn lenses is the chromatic aberration
