Something a lot of people don't realize is that your Hazard Protection regenerates if you have the Upgrade powered. I've noticed people pop in a fresh battery as soon as the shield needs recharging. Wait until your Hazard Protection is at 10-15% and then pop the battery. You're recharging both shields with just that one consumable. That's the real benefit of the Hazard upgrades.

@@rhysmahuru545 If the shield is charged. There's 2 bars, the suit's and the upgrade module's. Example, if you're on a derelict freighter, the Cold specific shield will deplete and not be recharged if you stand by a heater. If you run that shield out, and then run the shield that does recharge in a heater's radius down, when you pop a battery to recharge the cold shield, the suit shield recharges as well.

I used to recharge both, until I realised in game that one charges the other , like the shield I pop up a battery and the other I put resources until i noticed that the shield was increasing and needed elements goes lower , it got me confused of why it happens before I realised , one charges the other

swap positions of Jetpack so it's central to the other upgrades. The other upgrades all require the Jetpack base as Main item, so if you place this in the middle you get more connections per side, all linked to the main. 123 456 789 5 would be the main JETPACK 2,4,6,8 Are the Main upgrade slots to use. "S" 1,3,7,9 are where you place "A","B","C" Class X CLASS are exception, depending on quality of the boosts they give depends if they get a S class position or a "A" class position You can work this into 2 rows of 3, where 1,4,5,7, 4 would be JETPACK so you get a T shape (rotated) The "T" layout can be tiled and actually fits quite well to fit inventory with little unconnected :) This is how it used to work a few patches back, but I don't think it's changed any... Hope this makes sense (and is still correct!) "Jetpack" was just used as example

In my experience, you usually want the best upgrade in the middle. It's easy to test with something like a hyperdrive where you can see the different stats when you move things around, but I've never gotten a bigger bonus from having the base technology in the middle as opposed to my nest upgrade.

I guess one "benefit" to having the blueprint freeze protect and say two S class upgrades is you would have longer before having to refill. Basically: instead of say a 1 minute before you weren't protected from severe cold to 2 minutes. But, as you said, and the way I look at it, it doesn't take too long to pop in/use a battery to refill anyways; it isn't worth giving up the inventory slots. Unless of course you spend a lot of time on really hard planets. However, I do run with two of the under water "protections"/air things as for whatever reason there isn't a quick menu for recharge your underwater stuff like there is for the other protections.

Jason, love your channel. I found a 'new' way to make a ton of units and am passing it on in case you want to make a video about it. It is: 'Gravitino Thief', and it works with the new release. The set up is simple: First, get a map to a Sentinel Nest. Next, find a planet with reasonable weather and aggressive sentinels (with gravitino balls). Go to the Sentinel Nest and deactivate the sentinels. Build a minimal base there so you can easily return. Run around collecting the now unguarded gravitino balls. Sell them - I usually get 8-10 million units per visit; the limiting factor is how many you can carry or stuff in an exocraft or freighter.

You can only have a maximum of 9 core health. The 3 S-Class defense modules in your Tech tab would be better replaced with 3 4-stat Glass modules. Both types have Core Health and Shield Strength, but glass has 2 more beneficial stats. The Star Seed, with only a single Core Health stat, is the weakest defense upgrade and completely vestigial. I don't know what the adjacency bonus with Remembrance does and if it's even worth keeping installed. Since you're playing on controller, you might notice that every time you open your inventory the cursor is on the 8th box in the third row. Instead of arranging your components top to bottom, I recommend arranging them left to right. Why have the cursor default to a space that you're never going to click on instead of something that you will use/move/refine?

@@hirofortis You can have 9 hearts/canisters/blips/life/hits under your shield bar. The 10th doesn't add another [+]. So I guess you're right, that it'd be 3 core health if 33% is each [+]. The health that munching meat replenishes. You start with 3. Technically 6 glass in your Tech and General inventory maxes you out on life. The "extra" 3 shield modules still improve your shield strength though.

Great video Jason. Also, I would advise new players, or remind others, that you should keep your favorite upgrades in the Tech slot. Especially those Seeds. When they open a new galaxy and get transported, the tech upgrades and blueprints don't break but the ones in the general inventory do. You can fix them, but it's still a pain. Again, great videos!

Yeah learned that the hard way.. 😅 just jumped from Euclid for the first time to Hilbert. Luckily I keep a stack of a bout everything I’ll need, including extra heart of suns for in case of emergency. Emergency happened when I jumped with my maxed ship and a lot of techs in my general tabs.. good info though for people that aren’t aware, cheers Robert! 👌

I use three underwater upgrades. Each adds 100% for 300% total (not 800%). They each need to be charged individually, but allow me to swim like a fish. I’ve tried multiple thermals and they work the same way, but are not worth the space taken up. A single upgrade (except underwater) works fine.

I get that this is about maxing out your suit's upgrades but to be honest I'm not sure I need quite that many jetpack boosts. I ended up saving a bunch of slots in my suit's general tab by not placing any jetpack upgrades there. Instead I have 5 jetpack items in my technology tab & that feels like plenty. Fantastic video though, I learned a lot. Thank you.

I wish they would let you move the tabs around so you can have the Cargo tab in the front and have it be filled first *OR* expand the tech slots and let all the tech fit in it. All they have to do for it is make a max number of connected and total upgrades or even just let the bonuses add up to crazy levels.

Having multiple upgrades for hazard protection is better as they each individually drain, so having two will drain one, then the second. This allows you survive extreme storms for a while

@@christianferloni2323 From what I understand, the sentinel modules work independently from your other module groups as they benefit multiple equipment systems at once. That's why he has a stack of three in addition to his other modules without overloading them.

I wish they had the stats on the right, like in the multi-tool and ship. I have found if I put the base item, then the best upgrades in a plus sign formation around the basic item, like the boltcaster. With moving things around you can see the numbers go up and down. It seems to be less than the box option.

You don't need half the blueprints here. Way too overkill. Storage is important. You don't need 4 extra oxygen upgrades because the oxygen packs are really cheap to get. You don't need those 4 c class hazard protection upgrades because ion batteries are really cheap to get. You don't need aeration mask because it's cheap and easy to get the submarine spawned anywhere with the special freighter room. Also you already have the refillable water protection module. All jetpack upgrades are good, but you didn't place them efficiently. The upgrades should be in a 2x2 box with the jetpack touching the box outside of it. This is because of how the game applies upgrade bonuses. The s class upgrades apply greater bonuses, so they must be placed the together. The main tech only applies a lesser bonus. What you are saying is misinformation, even if its unintended. The sentinel upgrades are great, so use then in the tech tab instead of the garbage c class oxygen module. You can literally get insane oxygen and jetpack bonuses with those. Also you didn't even put the x class hazard protection modules next to the hazard protection thing.

Jason you should do a video about the no man's sky quicksilver glitch. To do it, go to the space anomaly, buy some stuff from the quicksilver shop, then reload your auto save, and then, they will be free to collect when you reload your autosave. And then keep on doing the same thing till you buy all of them. Forgot to mention, your quicksilver will be back when you reload.

my advice befor one enters a new galaxy 1 have a ship and multi tool for that purpose with minimal equipment and no mods same multi tool for character return them to storage so you can avoid repairing them. it will save resource and time.

The game offers way to much protection, it's like nothing can kill you there. I focus mostly on movement, jetpack and one S class for hazard. I also find that neutron cannon and plasma grenades are the best way to deal with anything out there in a quick way, plus you still have all the room for mining and surviving ad-ons. Don't go for Bolt Caster, cos it is a pain to use and it takes more than half the slots in the Multitool.

This has been very helpful video, I did however managed to know these buffs before, or at least, to a degree. Seeing how they all lid up in to different color boxes as you added the same type together, explains itself that they are being buffed or something. Watching similar videos like these to understand how to properly adjust them to their fullest potential. @Jason, one thing I noticed you kind of did wrong and could've done better is by having the (?) 2 marker boxes put in to the tech storage and have the red balls that you get from story line, be in your basic storage, that way you can have up to 5 more oxygen and other buffs to that on, than 3. The same way as you did with jetpack and shields. Just add another 2 of (?) boxes (Name isn't coming to mind yet) in to tech tree and you got even better buff going on. With the backpack refinery, I personally use portable, it's the same thing, except I can place one down and not have that annoying sound follow me around/or when I am in the mood of and turn sound off while listening to chill music, I can have 2 of that running when needed, as they say, two heads are better than one. Kek.

Thanks for all the info as always Jason. This sounds like it need checked out: Hyperspace Navigation Stations gives 16 hexadecimal digits which translate as a portal code. [Any Hyperspace Navigation Stations found in the same system as each other will always broadcast the same coordinates.] [There's speculation that if you keep following the path it will lead to something. Every system that one of these leads to, also has this space encounter in it - meaning that you can keep following the directions they give]

While I do have immense appreciation for the art of min maxing and theory crafting, is there really any content in this game that requires duplicating upgrades on both tabs? I mean, even the multiplayer content is soloable. I would love to have more challenge in the game that does not involve me tying my own arm behind my back in the form of playing survival or perma. That said, I only have about 100 hours in the game, and I have not technically beat it yet, so maybe there's more out there in terms of challenge.

Hey Jason. Jason here lol. So the underwater blueprint I have 2 of them which both say 100% this actually gives me an extra layer of protection before it hits my health bar. If that makes sense. Like for each one you have that icon is visible above your health bar when your ur underwater. I have 2 of those icons.

Did this to my squid ship with pulsedrives and launch thrusters(both add boost) then used the little bobble heads that add boost, stacked the two (artemus and polo) and my ship goes 31,000 u/s when I hold down the boost button 😁

The stats that upgrade modules give you when equipped aren't determined upon purchase, but rather via a preset list of seeds in the game files. If you have 10 S-class jetpack modules, they will always give you the same stats in that sequence, no matter what order in which you equip them. So if you want to save nanites and you're extra scummy (like me), save your game, equip your modules, discern which one gives you the best stats, reload your save, buy some cheap C-class modules, then use them up to the one in the sequence that you want. So if the seventh S-class module is best for you, equip six C-class ones THEN an S-class on the seventh. Of course, if you have a variety of 30 modules, you could go even further and equip them in every possible combination then record the results on a spreadsheet, but who has time for that? 😅😐🤐

There is a current glitch for me with the quicksilver system, if I purchase something from the quicksilver store in the nexus then reload the auto save without saving after the purchase, when I go back to the store the item says available and I can purchase it again without spending any quicksilver. Then get into ship, save, rinse and repeat to acquire everything without spending a single quicksilver! lol

That’s been an existing exploit for a while now and I’ve heard nothing about them patching it out so keep using it brotha. That’s what I do. Additionally if you sell to a vendor straight out of your ships new cargo inventory, you get credit for selling it but it stays in the ship: allowing you to sell it repeatedly for infinite money. I’d suggest loading your ships cargo inventory with 1 of any upgrade module so you can sell stacks for nanites. Makes for an easy nanite farm. I made 800,000 nanites in 5 minutes last night. You can even buy them from the anomaly vendor and sell them right back an infinite amount of times.

Aeration membrane gets a boost from shield

I'm having an issue where I'm trying to move the upgrades to see which ones are better but then they go gray like for storage or something and I can't really see what the attributes are to compare the upgrades of new at this game so I'm trying to figure everything out
