Good work. Only thing I would say is don't reduce flow for these things, especially when dealing with skies. It is a sure fire way to end up with a patchy uneven sky in lum masking - for the simple fact if you paint over the same area twice with a low flow but another only once, the former will be darker. You got away with it here because it's not a massively bright sky but it won't always work that well (I'd also like to see your 100% on this one). A much better way is to reduce your opacity, say to 40 percent or wherever you want it then paint it back in as it will be a consistent adjustment. Also, further to using the opacity brush settings, we can then physically adjust the opacity of the layer if the effect was too strong. PS you should also turn smoothing off.

Thanks for the advice, I will try it with a full flow

@@JasonRowPhotography yeh full flow...then reduxe opacity of layer to taste or simply edit the smart objects exposure.

Great video, you've made the method look very simple. Do you by any chance have the instructions written down for those who'd like to try it on their own photographs?

Hi, I have it in written form at Light Stalking www.lightstalking.com/layer-luminosity-masks/

Is there better than an actual bracketed hdr?
@JasonRowPhotography4 жыл бұрын
You can use this technique on a bracketed shot and it will look much better than an HDR. If you have a good single RAW file it also can look better than a bracketed HDR
