I think it's great that you and Josh stayed flexible and found something different to do when there wasn't enough seats for your original plan.

He went on the boat to see the famous Spirit Island in Maligne Lake. Loved this little hike as it caused me to learn about Mary Shaffer and read two of her books. Thx for watching!

What a relaxing video, and I agree, what a beautiful little trail! Thank you for the background and readings from Mary Schaffer...it's nice to learn about some of the women who contributed to our history.😊

@@popshiking Follow-up: I was inspired to check a little further on Mary Schaffer. On Wikipedia, it says she was born in West Chester, PA, about an hour away from where I was born and lived most of my life! She and her husband spent summers in the Canadian Rockies and winters in Philly. There is a biography of her, No Ordinary Woman: The Story of Mary Schäffer Warren, by Janice Sanford Beck, for anyone who is interested.

I stumbled on that trail and she was an amazing woman. Incredible what she faced in her exploration. Both books and videos give me some escape too!

We did carry it! So sad with the fires there in Jasper right now.

Even though I stopped at Jasper on my way to/from Alaska in 1993, I didn't know Maligne Lake existed and passed by it. It's on my bucket list to see. It looked rather hazy while you were there. Were there wildfires in the region? Loving your videos. If I may, it would be helpful if you put your date of travel in your description, even if it's just month and year.

I think you are right about some fires at the time. It was last summer 2023. We went there mostly because Josh wanted to see Spirit Island there. Thx for stopping by!

Haha I wish! Nothing compared to Mary Shaffer. When you read about what she did facing mosquitoes and other horrendous challenges you recognize you probably couldn’t or wouldn’t do it.
