I drove from Medicine Hat to Vancouver in the winter of 1981 (Route 1, via Rogers pass, Kamloops and a few other places. Ah yes, I stopped the night at Cashe Creek) in my trusty Ford LTD which had slippy tyres (lets not go there!). Then drove back via Route 3 (Crowsnest Pass) and Lethbridge, if I remember rightly a few days later. I remember seeing a huge grizzly (stuffed), I think at Rogers pass. Would I have passed Jasper on the Route 1 trip? I think I must've done so.

Norm - Jasper the Bear was the first thing I checked out in Mcleans. My favorite depiction of him is the one at the SkyTram, cause it looks more like the cartoon. I didn't realize that was the original one from the train station. I can't think about the town or the park without thinking about the cartoon Jasper. Now for my gripe. I have a plushy and a little statue of Jasper. I got a couple of Jasper Tee Shirts years ago, but they were only available for a year or two. I think Jasper should be much, much more prominent in the town and it's marketing. Tee shirts should be everywhere. Trying to make a big buck means they miss an opportunity to make way more little bucks, and a ton of free advertising. Anyway, thanks for this video and I will see you ( If you're not fast enough to dodge me), and Jasper the Bear, in the mountains.

Good point, as always Jim! I will mention that to the powers that be. And I can't wait to see YOU in the mountains (there's no way I could ever outrun you and we have way too much together!) -Norm

Now Jasper Alberta has been hit with terrible Fires. I hope and pray that ALL of the Wildlife got away

Parks Canada has already documented bears, elk, and deer moving through the Jasper townsite. One mama grizzly and her cubs found a safe spot down by the river during the fire and are back to their regular feeding spots near Jasper Park Lodge. Life will find a way! -Norm
