The first Javanese came to Suriname in 1890 as indentured labourers. The immigration lasted till 1939. They now form a well appreciated part (12%) of the beautiful flowering called Suriname

Davidddd! I was born and raised in Suriname, but i live for more than 19yrs in Aruba. And seeing all of ur videos from Suriname brings me back and i can actually taste all the foods u tried. I love the fact that you chose to tour Suriname to taste our culture, thank you for that. But.....The tour guide needs to be more explanatory and clear with the info he provides you, because this is going global. He just can't be out there saying incorrect things. That's unacceptable. A real tour guide is well (super) informed of the country and surrounding environment he or she will show you. It is indeed a great miss that you stumbled upon the wrong person for the job. Don't get me wrong; Imro's not the bad guy. He's a nice dude! But not fit for the job. So, now the good stuff: The series of Suriname are nice! good footage, nice setting and a great host "David".Not all the places are covered, but the ones that you've been to already give a wonderful impression. THat soy sauce is called "Ketjap Manis". It's prepared with brown sugar and lots of red/ yellow pepper. Best to eat this on sate or meat or saoto soup.

Tofu in the sauto is potato sticks (the chips kind) and the green "Panda" drink is pandan flavored hence the color. The peper you call chilli or Cayenne it is called in the stated Scotch Bonnet, in Suriname it is called Madame Jeanette. Food looks amazing at that Jakarta place

That tough jerky-like beef is called Rendang in Indonesia. I suggest you to try the authentic one in Indonesia as the herbs are more complete here and the more herbs the more fragrant the dish would become. I can guarantee you the taste would be far tounge-dancingly tasty. It goes the same to satay, in Indonesia we usually smear the chicken with spiced peanut and sweet soy sauce before barbecuing it. That savory peanut sauce mixed with caramelized sweet soy sauce will give you a heavenly party in the mouth.
