The dawet is made from: Coconut milk, lemongrass, and a leaf called pandan. So no rose water. The coloring is done either with green food coloring or red food coloring or red cola essence. The jelly's are called Tjendol (Chendol in English). Made from cornflour that is boiled with water and then poured over in a water can with big holes. Everything that leaks out of the water can falls then in to ice cold water and that forms these tiny bubbles.

@@sarawinardi6745 it could be yes. But in Suriname we do not use tapioca. That is only used in modern drinks, made by modern restaurants. I mean the Javanese in Suriname came here 130 years ago. Actually no. A tour guide should know everything about his country. Not only the places but also the food. And he should be able to speak decent English so he can communicate better with the tourists. A tour guide should be well trained and educated and they should have a usual agenda for the tourists, but it doesn't look like Jenny tours gives the guides they hire any training.

Dawet in Java Indonesia (INA) is not the same as in Suriname (SUR). Dawet is cendol in Indonesian; a green pandan jelly drink with palm sugar and coconut milk. The Javanese in SUR cannot speak the lingua franca of INA (Indonesian), they migrated to SUR before the country INA was established. What you get in SUR is adjusted Javanese food, not Indonesian food (300+ ethnic groups with their own cuisines).
