There is a 3rd use case as well, when the data sent by the promise itself is not a valid JSON object. Please consider the following example- const myPromise = new Promise((res,rej)=>{ res('100'); }); myPromise.then((data)=>{const res= data.json();}).then((data)=>{console.log(data);}); Hopefully, I'm making some sense here. And thank you for the knowledge you share with us.
