What you are describing is not specifically a Higher-Order Component (HOC) but rather a pattern commonly used in React applications for fetching data and managing state.

sorry, I'm not much a of a commenter on web. but there are much more difficult questions to ask in react, especially if you're full stack. like, perform all lifecycle hooks with use effect, redux vs context hooks, v5 to v6 on react router Dom library and so on.... quite a junior questions in the video my man. those are basic stuff employers expect you to know when graduating, and higher order functions are js vanilla thingy not react :(

Hey Peter, I’m a product designer and I recently started learning about no-code and internal tools, specifically with Softr, it’s been exciting. I’d love to ask some questions on this, please let me know if I can reach out to you. Thanks

I didn't know any of these things! good video to direct my studying - I've put react on my resume, but the year I spent working with it was far from fruitful. Thank you!

If I want/need a personal website, & don't need the over-hyped, micro-detailed billing of things that should be standard anyway, stuff that 99.9% of web hosting companies offer, who do you recommend? I'm not a business. I have a personal site but my host just dropped cPanel & has flipped my admin environment. I have no form of any control panel at all. I'm told new features will be added monthly. Monthly? I go from doing whatever I need to do w/cPanel to an empty promise. So how long am I supposed to wait to see something I can use....IF in fact, it is something I CAN use?! So, I go looking at web hosts as I did years ago, & I see 99% of them are convoluted slot machines. Help.

My toptal react interview was similar to this, different task, but same time requirement and also similar rules. Have you worked on toptal as a react developer? I'm curious how the experience is for a developer.

So that disabled button const will change dynamically depending on the conditions it's set to? Even though it's outside of any sort of use effect or anything that would refire?

I'm making a game in Unity right now with a database using Firebase, and Google Auth. The database will store accounts, messages, stats, friends lists. It's all in Firebase which is non-relational but I'm using foreignIds to kind of imitate a relational database. After I release this app, I'm hoping to make a landing page for either my portfolio, or for my game, or maybe even a website that's a guide to a mobile game, with database functionality that allows my users to contribute information to it. I think my app will probably be released by next year, I'm really hoping it will stand out as a big project on my portfolio since it will hopefully have an active userbase, even if it's a small one

Sometimes they promote you to fire you. If you change jobs. You usually go on PROBATION for 90 days. I got Involuntary promoted. 11 moths later they eliminated the position, and I was on the street after 21 years! Ironically the three people who I beat for the position are still there. Got no more money. Funny my current employer is begging me to put in for supervisor position. At 60. NO SOAP.

Hello Peter, I hope you will see this comment. I’ve been sharing both the live site and the source code on GitHub in my portfolio and social media. I’m proud of my work, but I’m a bit concerned about someone else possibly taking my code which is my hard work and using it for their own benefit. Do you think it’s better to keep the code private, or is it more beneficial to share it openly? Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

Wow. This is the first vid I'm coming across from you and it was *excellent*. I find myself at a point in my career where I need to refresh myself on all of this kind of basic knowledge (at least the ability to speak to it) ASAP to land a new role after a layoff and before I lose my home, and this has been one of the most helpful resources I've found yet! Thanks for this - checking out the rest now! :D

(ツ) I've got some basic web pages & a game I started; so hearing ur thoughts r great encouragement to keep going ❤

Side projects are the way. Ha I always take a gander at my collection of app ideas in my notes app, and find the most doable project. Google was bugging me about closing my dev account for not uploading an app to the play store in over a year, so I build a quick one feature POC in a day lol

Great suggestions! I would like to see a video on “how to start the quick project”… possibly the smaller ones that might be able to scale… ie. Cron job that exports some data from google sheets and sends it to a database or shares it with others
