I am a Govt officer in Multan, Pakistan whose forefathers migrated from Hoshiarpur during partition 47. I heartedly appreciate Sir Javed Akhtar. He is a Diamond of unique nature. I want to salute him. He is really really a great human. He said true that Urdu speaker is called Hindustani here in Pakistan.

I am what a native urdu-speaker from Karachi, Pakistan, and I am really thankful to all my non-urdu-speaking Pakistani brothers and sisters (specially Punjabis) who have accepted Urdu and given it a home and state in Pakistan. After partition most urdu authors and poets were produced from Punjab, Pakistan. I think Urdu is a symbol of Muslims of Indian sub continent, and the glorious civilization they created in history, and I say this with lots of love for all its predecessor languages (Hindvi, khari, sanskrit, persian, turkish, arabic etc.)

I think Muslims of Bangladesh will beg to differ with you. Like Javed ji said, languages are of regions, not of religion. My Nana who came from now Pakistan after partition could read Urdu script. And he used to read Punjabi newspaper written in Urdu script. Please dont associate any language with any religion.

@@jaswindersinghnarula4379 well if you say so sir. However, it is pretty evident that Urdu language has been associated with certain religion. You can see this is today's India as well. Most of us muslims of south asia, have our own regional mother tongues. (Except for the muslims of UP, who speak Urdu as mother tongue). However, it is Urdu language that all muslims of South Asia like to associate with along with their regional language. You would see muslims from karnataka, to khyber Paktunkhwa Province of Pakistan learning to read and write Urdu. Why? After Arabic, it is Urdu language in which most islamic academic work exists.

@@SamarNiaz29 Again, its being made into an Islamic language which its not. And script is not language. In fact in start it was considered against Islam. Do watch more Videos of Javed ji on this. Languages are of regions not religions.

@@jaswindersinghnarula4379 sir I know Javed sahab's narrative, and I understand why he takes that approach. If you like Urdu, it is yours :) You are right, languages belong to regions, not religion, however I would say there is an exception here. Muslim concept of identity is very different that others. Muslims derive their identity from ideology, rather than regions, ethnicity, race, or color. It is a different discussion all together. and like I said, if you love Urdu, it is yours :)

Everyboday speaks urdu in pakistan as its a national language but yeah people who don't have a mother language and only speak urdu are called muhajir but i think they have dividend thereselfs on there own by calling themselve muhajir otherwise no one would have given a shit. in pakistan people are busy doing there own shit nowadays its only them who think calling themselve muhajir will give them little bit of attention coz they couldn't just add up to panjabi, sindhi,baloch pashtun or kashmiri community, so just for some extra attention they made a new community called muhajirs. I am pakhun by cast but i Don't communities and all that shit that much but whenever have i met any muhajir i have always felt that these guys do this muhajir muhajir so much. i mean why ? No one would giva a shit if u don't mention it but no you want to keep saying it so that other can understand that u are also a thing.

Influence on Urdu is wrt phonology, literary tradition and elite accent. Native Indo Aryan languages didnt have Z, Dz, Dj, Q, Kh & Gh sounds which is influence of Western neighbouring languages.
@user-sc3gn6be3h
@user-sc3gn6be3h 2 жыл бұрын
But the native Persian didn’t have Hindi sounds either. All the “do chashmi” alphabets are modified Persian letters to write Hindi words. Example: gha (as in ghar), jha (as in jharna, jhoola), dha (as in dhadkan), dha (as in dhakkan/lid), and so on. As Javed Akhtar said: Boli is what people speak, not what they write). These days, most people write Hindi/Urdu in Roman/English script on their phone/texts/emails, etc., so with your logic, should we call Hindi written in the Roman script a new language?? no! Similarly, Urdu is not a language. A language must have its own original syntax or vocabulary, but in Urdu, the syntax is Hindi; vocabulary is a mix of mostly Hindi, then some Persian, Arabic, Turkish, and Sanskrit. I challenge to name is single word of Urdu which is original. You will find none! The whole syntax & grammar is Hindi/Sanskrit based, too. So according to the definition of a language, Urdu does not meet the requirements to be a language.
@sharjeel.k126
@sharjeel.k126 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-sc3gn6be3h i ageee with most of what he had to say however persian influence is more severe on Urdu/Hindi than all other languages combined and cant be understated. Thats because Urdu/Hindu developed when elites, administrators etc groomed in persian culture started speaking a local language with heavy and direct induction of Persian but also Pashto, Arabic and Turkic words while the influence of English words is different as it is adoption of global dominant culture by native speakers. This is what makes the difference, Urdu was developed by Persian speakers thats why even many basic words like asman, zameen, sitaray, darvaza, deevar, rasta, idhar, udhar, agar, magar, khair etc are persian and it escalates when it comes to poetry and literature while modern day english influence is adopted by native speakers thats why it have no influence on hindi urdu literature and little influence on basic lexicon compared to persian. But more important than the lexical influence is the accent, mannerism, phonological and aesthetic influence of Persian. Urdu Hindi in this respect was just like our modern generation speaking Urdu and Hindi in English accent or under the influence of English accent. That doesnt make it a different language but it does take away a lot of original flavour in favour of foreign influence and its something new and something of syncretic origin.
