I have watched it in normal speed so many times and it looks like a foul, but I have watched it in slow motion as well and I think he somehow saved it. It was also a 89m throw. You can watch the original video by clicking the new link in the description. They did not accept this throw and he failed to make finals, Steve Backley failed to make finals as well that year.

onebadmoto It's the most technical event in track and field next to pole vault. It takes a lot of FLAWLESS technique, power, and strength to throw the javelin that far. It's very difficult to reach a very high competitive level, like these world class athletes have. These are all studly athletes!! And personally, I think it's just a bad ass event in general, but that's just my opinion. :)
