I love the proprietary magnetic charging system. Every electronic device I've owned invariably fails at the connection site. Not only that, but if the particular device has a shield door, it fails first. Like you've said before, if you collect Olight, you'll eventually have a million cables lying around. I also find them extremely durable.

It seems like the 2040 mAh style 18500 battery choice was based on emulating the Javelot Tac’s design minus the mounts. I personally feel an 18650 or 21700 wouldn’t compromise the form-factor too much in hand, but it would give substantially more power (3500-5000 mAh). This could be used for a brighter/farther throwing light, or just increased run time. Seems like a missed opportunity to me since this isn’t particularly designed to be weapon mounted light like it’s predecessor. Hopefully a “Pro” model with this in mind is in the works.

that bezel looks like E70 but a bit less aggressive..and low profile too aesthetic, olight does very well in how their lights look. and the sheath comes with stands among the top of market. will definitely keep an eye on it

Olight’s looks are a feature unmatched by other makers. Specs, brightness and runtimes are all a comparable wash but style and is a market differentiator.

This light is better in real life than it is on paper just like the reviewer said. I didn't think I would like the battery but I don't use it for hours at a time. It's just probably the most fun light I have to play around with. Plus the Nostalgia and me reminds me of the old d-mini that this light reminds me of. But it's beam is great and I'm not usually a huge thrower light person and it's just a light that makes you smile every time you use it.

I have one boxed that I got for free in the sale. I planned to sell it negate I have a sofirn if22a which has twice the power and cost £22 from a aliexpress. But this video has me tempted to open it and keep it. I'm just not sure I won't be disappointed in the deceased power versus the if22a.

Imagine a square emitter's area was like wet ink. If you wiped that ink in a circle, the center of the square would be dark and the edges would be lighter, as you only have the ink from the corners to fill that in. The farther away from the center, the less ink. So we see that reflector corona is from square emitters and this one unsurprisingly has no corona.

Yes, that’s exactly it. If you put a square emitter on moonlight and then move your heard in a circular pattern around as you look at the reflector you can see this in action as well. There are tons of overlapping “spikes” or “flares” that are produced in the reflector periphery by the square shape. They all average out to produce a corona around the hotspot. Thanks for your analogy!

@@cheule It is the Yinding 5050 "30W" emitter, it is used in the Alonefire X50 Fresnel lens thrower and can be bought on AX for a couple bucks. There are two versions one with the glass lens (in this flashlight) and the other is white ceramic like an Osram W2. The glass lens version is labeled "natural white" and the ceramic is the "cool white" version. It is very similar in performance to the Oslon Boost HX, but with a more common 5050 footprint, and can be run at the same 8A max current.

Is this better than the TN12 Pro? I also have the TN12 Pro so I guess the question is geared more towards which has a further throw. Also which between the two has more spill? Last question, when I am on the website it shows $75 dollars including a smaller light, however at the bottom I see the sale begins in 2 days? So is it $75 for the sale or will it be less in 2 days?

My understanding is the $75.99 is the introduction sale price. I like both of these lights a lot. The javelot mini has more intensity (candela) than the TN12 Pro. Also, the TN12 has a brighter spill, and better tint. However there is just something about the focus of the Javelot mini’s beam that makes me want to carry it. (Also I simply love the switch).

I said it before and ill say it again, physically, olight's 2 stage switch is the best ui. rotaries are cool but just arent as fast or convenient as simply half or full pressing. i do wish the ui itself like how its programmed was better, so you could alter what level each press does and maybe cycle with subsequent presses, maybe an "edc mode" and a "duty mode" you can swap between, something more configurable and then something thats a simple on/off high/low with momentary. reguardless its still a very nice setup, and i kinda regret giving away my m2r pro because of it, shouldve just done an emmiter swap and just shilled out the extra cash for backup batteries.

Good points! I do think that if you are going to only have two outputs, the ones they choose are great. 1000 lumens on high, of course, and the 200 lumens is perfect from close distance. I find that with advanced drivers like h17f, I usually program them for 4 modes: moonlight: 0.3 lm, Low: 10-20 lumens, Medium: 200 lm, and high: 800-1,500 lm. So 200/1000 is exactly what I select on my own lights.

olight's ui mode is exactly what confuses me to be using with it's light...maybe i was just too used to the usual tap/press tactical button...or weltool's ui that tap to momentary on plus change mode, and press to on/off, which does fine to me but for "tactical" for real, you might be right

It is difficult to disparage that beam profile. I give the devil his due, that was well done Olight. Take this with a grain of salt as I used to be a huge Olight fan (I'm a Olight Diamond) Even with that fantastic beam, because of the proprietary battery and the switch that I dislike I will pass on this puppy. Side note to Cheule, as promised in previous comments I have given my 2 cents in the comments of the "Thrunite Catapult Pro SFT70 Flashlight" video concerning the Thrunite TC20 v2 and it compared to the original TC20. Thank you for these most interesting and informative videos.

I have all three lights (GT nano, GT micro, Javelot mini) and they’re all great lights. The beam is very unique on the Javelot. It’s so defined. Also the GT nano is amazing for what it is, but suffers from poor runtime.

Proprietary battery - instant pass. For its price you can get a fully spec-ed out Hanklight or 3 to 4 Convoy C8+. The lack of LED options really hurts olight.
