I learned that when the Maids start with some orchestral lead in, they are coming off the deck at full afterburner and won't let up until the end of it. Good times. 😸

I agree with you on what you said with reference to Dream Thater. DT was my favorite band of all times from their record Images and Words came out in 1992 and until I found Band-Maid in 2021. I have everything DT have ever released, and same with Band-Maid who is now my favorite band of all times. I've see DT once and BM twice, both fantastic bands, but I have to give it to the maids for creating increadible music. I still buy everything DT, but BM is my #1. If someone had said in January of 2020 (saw DT live) that I would listen to a band of girls dressed in maid costumes I would have laughted my ass off. I didn't laugh for a second because after listen to 10 of their videos I knew I had struck gold. I will see them again on March 20th in Tokyo 🙂

Yes. Kanami plays the vocals for the Verses, Choruses, Bridges, Transitions, Backing vocals etc. And also throws in the solo's. She is not of this world I tells ya. And of course the other Maids deliver stellar performances to match her. A highlight for me is Misa. Dressed in all black, long black hair, playing the Black Cloud bass, standing beside the black speaker stack, in the black shadows. Just like the Assassin that she is. That's just plain sexy. Or have I said too much?

Kanami's classical and singer/songwriter background shows through in lots of Band-Maid songs, but I think From Now On has to be Exhibit A. Plus, then you get MISA and Akane, who both went to music schools and add their expertise. And of course we can't forget Miku, who has gone so far, so fast.

Thank you for reacting to Band-Maid - From Now On. This instrumental is one of their 4 amazing instrumentals (onset, Don't Be Long, without holding back, From Now On). You can actually listen to many Band-Maid songs where the vocals are removed, and the songs stands fine on their own as instrumentals. Band-Maid write music this way. Play was written to be an instrumental, but Saiki liked it so much she asked Miku to write lyrics for her to sing. I have seen them play From Now On twice, and they are just as good live as in this video. You may react to anything by Band-Maid, but if you like Metal I think the song I'll will work well. Greetings from Norway.

We know why they do instrumentals. To me, this one feels like Kanami seeing and reading the comments "I love her solos, but they are too short" from reactors and fans. And then she thinks "ok Miku.... press upload" LOL In a well written instrumental you hear the lyrics when there are none. This is what they opened Aftershock with. Crowd doubled by the end of it.
@mootod9 ай бұрын
And instrumentals are also good for making Saiki's voice rest in live. Because she got an operation of throat polyp several years ago.

The first time i heard this song I was amazed about how “correct” it sounded from start to finish. But also that the song rests on a very straight forward foundation. Kanami had many options on what melodies to play, the rhythm arrangement, which I’m sure was augmented by Akane and Misa, the tempo, etc and it ends up so good. I think they could rewrite on this foundation 10 more times and write 10 more killer tracks.

One of the godzillian things I love about these maids is that from the beginning they have pushed themselves 3 steps farther than their current ability. They always write just over their own heads and then they force themselves to "Do it!" It has, as you can see, paid mega dividends!

What I find amazing is that after all this time, all these albums, their music isn't just still strong, it keeps getting better. In my fifty years as a rocker / metalhead, only a handful of the bands I've loved have been able to do that. Most bands start to fizzle after a couple of albums, their creative wells running dry, but not Band-Maid. I love this band more with every new song.

The main difference between THRILL and FROM NOW ON - or any of their songs after ALONE - is that THRILL was not written by KANAMI - ALONE was their first sole attempt at writing their own songs. I had "discovered" Band-Maid 2 years ago while looking for interesting music. I had found the typical Band-Maid Introductory videos: "Thrill", "Non-Fiction Days", "Real Existence", "Don't You Tell ME", and then I found their Day of the Maid "Manners/Black Hole" video. They were all really good hard rocking songs, demonstrating competent musicianship, but when I heard "Manners" I realized that Band-Maid might be something different, creative at a different level. Then following that with the onslaught of "Black Hole", which seemed to be this strange mix of Speed Metal and Broadway show tunes, I was taken aback. This isn't anything I had heard before. 'Day of the Maid' stuck in my head and when I came across another 'Day of the Maid' video, "Onset", I had to watch. And I was astounded. "Onset" was an incredible action adventure movie soundtrack of epic proportions. In my mind, with "Onset", Band-Maid had entered the realm of legendary super-groups like Rush, Led Zeppelin, The Stones, Pink Floyd, etc. and I was having difficulty understanding two things. First, how had Band-Maid flown under my radar for the last 8 years, and secondly, how the heck would they ever top "Onset"? It was such a mind-blowing instrumental. A few months passed by and Band-Maid released "Unleash" and my second question was answered when "From Now On" was uploaded to KZbin. This tune hits you HARD. I am now a huge fan of this band and I have learned that as their career has progressed they have assumed greater and greater creative control, of their compositions, arrangements, studio production, mixing, budgeting, merch, PR, etc. They have that Punk Rocker DIY work ethic and they do it all very, very well with barely any missteps. One of the clues are the backing tracks they produce for their compositions. Unlike so many modern pop artists who go into the studio with vague song ideas and wind up with "songs" written by random committee of passersby pieced together by a 'name' producer, Band-Maid does it by themselves with a crew that they hire. They piece together the backing track using themselves as the studio musicians. This is why "From Now On" is such a powerful piece: the piano, the synth, and everything else on the backing track is pure Band-Maid, created to support and augment their live play. They played "From Now On" at every club gig on their 10Ant tour, only excluding it from short festival sets.

Great reaction !!!! Your face was priceless. I am BIG fan of instrumentals going back to the early 1960's with Don Wilson and The Ventures, The Surfaris, The RipChords, The Chantays, The Tornados and from England, The Shadows. It is a genre that died out, but Band Maid has brought it back with a passion. Onset and From Now On are two of the best I have ever heard and I heard on the Maid News Network that there is a version of the album Unleash that just has the instrumentals from every song on the album, with no vocals. One thing I have to say, not enough is said about Miku's progression as a rock guitarist from when she first picked one up. She was blessed to have Kanami as her sensei so you know she was getting great instruction. And the fact that they have THE classic rock setup with lead and rythym guitar along with bass and drums makes it even more enjoyable. The way that Miku fills in those spots that may otherwise be uncovered just makes the music so much more solid and continuous. What I want to see is how far they can progress in their excellence. They seem to have no ceiling on what they accomplish.

Kanami's Gear Guitars PRS Custom 24 (Purple) Mahogany Body - I have tried other guitars as well. Among those I’ve tried, PRS was the perfect guitar for my image of BAND-MAID songs. PRS Custom 24 (Green) Korina Body Amps Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier 4×12 Recto Standard cabinet Effects - When I compose, I don’t think much about the effects. I use it to enhance the songs I've already written live. Here are the typical settings of my (KANAMI) pedalboard: Delay: Free The Tone FT-2Y, Eventide TimeFactor - I prefer using Digital Delay on the TimeFactor and on the H9, I use Spring Reverb. I use Free The Tone FT-2Y in a series circuit because it adds delays to a set tempo. TimeFactor is used to connect sends and return effects to clean and solo channels. On the other hand, I use H9 only for songs that use reverb. Currently, I only use it for reverb, but I would like to try more algorithms in the future. Reverb: Eventide H9 - I am a big fan of Eventide's so I want to keep using it forever! Volume: Shin’s Music Perfect Volume Drive: One Control Strawberry Red Overdrive, Fulltone Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Distortion - I use the boost pedal to add more gloss and deepness in the clean channel or to amplify the sound of the solo or riff.
