This is my SECOND time taking a look at Diana Ankudinova's incredible voice! As usual, I'll give you my full analysis on what we're hearing. We'll get back to the rock and metal soon I promise! But for now it's been great taking a look at amazing singers that I've never heard before. Diana's voice was so unique I had to look at more than one video.

Diana was, and probably still is the world's youngest dramatic contralto. She also has a polyphonic voice meaning she can sing two notes simultaneously.

Vocally difficult competition. The participants not only do not see and do not know with whom they are singing in a duet, but also the voices of the opponent in the headphones are changed beyond recognition and sound like a cartoon character.

Irina is very famous in Russia. She is the author of many songs, musician, singer, competition judge. Many singers have been singing her songs for many years. Diana’s first time in such a show, she knows Irina and Irina knows Diana.

Duets perform in this show. Partners do not know who they are singing with, do not see each other and hear voices distorted beyond recognition. There are no joint rehearsals, there is only a little time for everyone to prepare separately.

Hello, thank you very much for this good reaction. In 2019, Diana was a participant (for the 2nd time) in the singing competition show “You are Super” (at the age of 15). Irina Dubtsova was a judge there. So they know each other, but more like teacher and student. In this show, Diana had a total of 4 appearances, including “Human” (original by Rag'n'Bone Man) in an outstanding way, transmitting shamanic vibes. Irina Dubtsova falls into a kind of trance. Thank you for returning to Diana Ankudinova. Not everybody gets her immediately. I had to listen to her several times but then, suddenly, I realised that she had the most beautiful voice i had ever heard. OTT or what? lol . If you are looking for other young people, have you listened to Courtney Hadwin? She is a young rock singer who appeared on AGT. She seems to have extricated herself from her Simon Cowell contract and is once again releasing new songs.

Сложность "Дуэта" в том, что у каждого певца своя оптимальная тональность, и не всегда эти тональности совпадают. В данном исполнении тональность музыки выбрана под Дубцову.

If you want to hear her higher register then you have to hear "The day you..." if you want to hear her low register then go hear her cover of "Human" or "Oh it is not yet evening", if you want to hear both high and low the check out "Polyusko polye" and if you want to see her in something that will blow your mind the go see her most recent release called "Baikal".

Isn’t Diana fantastic? I think part of the sound she gets comes from keeping her larynx quite low in addition to the timbre she already has naturally. I imagine singing duets must be a bit more difficult for her since it’s hard to find the right person to mesh with such a unique voice, but when everything is done right it turns out very cool indeed As for other suggestions, there are some tremendous singers from Southeast Asia that you would probably be able to appreciate. I can think of Morisette Amon, Marcelito Pomoy, (both Filipino) and Putri Ariani (Indonesian) right off the top of my head…I don’t follow them as closely as D.A but I know enough about all 3 of them to know that they are great vocalists

At 3 she had a broken collarbone. I think at that age it affected the growth and remodeled her pharynx and larynx in a way that gave her polyphonic capacity added to her large larynx. Look at her profile shots during her version of Wicked Game video, her larynx is quite pronounced.

Great analysis! I would only like to add that not only timbres differ, but also the presentation of the meaning of the composition: Diana sings about the tragic in a person's life, and Irina sings about the heroic (maybe about farce in the face of death).

Greetings from Scotland! Over the last 7 years I have read/seen many statements from various sources about WHY does Diana sound like that but only two instances could be accurate in my opinion. So, back when Diana was 14yo and she had difficulty preparing for a contest performance, she was taken to a specialist to have her vocal "apparatus" checked and she was told to rest (Diana tried, but she loves to work) 😊 Anyway, it was noted that she had an unusual oval shape to her larynx and also an extremely flexible larynx. Much later another specialist noted that Diana may well have an extra "nasal resonator". But without proper poking/prodding and scans etc. who knows? I know absolutely that she has an incredibly rare vocal ability, quite naturally, and I thank fate for that! Diana herself recently said in an interview, without boasting, that *"To be able to sing like me, you have to be born me"* so she also understands what she has! *Bonus for you - Treat your ears and soul to one of her recent masterpieces where she really shows her vocal range and talent to the best levels I have heard yet! Thanks for checking out more of Diana Ankudinova. Her timbre comes from her very wide jawbone and large mouth, creating a giant resonating chamber inside. Her longer, thicker vocal cords also help too. It creates an absolutely mesmerizing vocal experience. As to the earpieces, both singers get a heavily distorted and awful voice or their partner in their earpieces, making it doubly hard to recognize the other voice and to generally concentrate on the music.

It's a technique she uses to sound like that, it's not her timbre alone. She doesn't sound like that when she speaks and her older songs have more technical variety. Her vocal coach died, she must had been doing the vocal arrangements for her. It seems Diana is zoning out on that technique since then.

The singers do not know who is behind the wall until the wall is raised. In addition, the headphones of both singers have a modified voice like in cartoons... a Donald Duck voice. They cannot here the real voice of their partner.
