Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion. On top of that, she's only 18 here!!!

You are asking a very common question about Diana's vocal range because as you know, the vocal range helps in defining a female singer's voice type. At age 13 in 2017, her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5, and As of September 2021, at age 18, (she is now 19), during this performance her lower functional range was again measured and now her range is from a low of C3 to a high of B♭5. But, it's not just how low she can go, it's the exceptional quality of her tone and timbre in her lower range. It's the roundness, the fullness, and the depth of her voice, along with her ability to create and access an enormous amount of resonance. This further defines Diana as a "dramatic contralto", and a "dramatic contralto", the deepest, darkest, and most powerful contralto voice type and the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. What most people want to know is, how does Diana do it? How can such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, and profound sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana’s ability to her winning the genetic lottery. She was just born with unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds appear to be longer and thicker than most female singers. Her larynx also appears to be larger and her pharynx similarly appears to be larger than other female singers. This unique vocal anatomy gives Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce those low, deep, rich, full notes, but without actually scoping Diana’s vocal track there is no way to be 100% sure. Diana is also a real polyphonic singer which is exceedingly rare for someone so young to have accomplished. A singer who has mastered this polyphonic vocal technique can create one, and sometimes two, different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones that can make it sound like more than one voice singing. This polyphonic ability is why some people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using some form of electronic voice manipulation or pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing off stage in the background, or she is lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track that was altered or modified. There is no artificial manipulation of Diana's voice of any kind going on at all. Neither is anyone else singing off stage nor is she lip-syncing to a vocal track. Peter Barber is an operatic bass singer and he came to the same realization you did re: her tongue position. He thought maybe, just maybe, she was doing some tongue manipulations to get that extremely dark tone. He went back to watch and was stunned. "Her tongue is perfectly flat!" To say he was flabbergasted was an understatement. 😃

There are several interviews with DIANA and she explains that it is easy for her to reach low notes 🙋🏻‍♀️🎼🎵🎶💫🎆 but she’s worked hard to make the higher ones. I would encourage you to watch “MY LOVE” at a smaller entertainment platform that she normally uses. Her life journey is AWESOME as she was adopted by a nurse who acted on the advice of a physician to take vocal lessons in order to facilitate her speech improvement. Diana, also called goosebumps queen, sang the cover of the cover of the song by Elvis Presley in the first episode of the competition 'Шоумаскгоон' (ShowMaskGoOn). Thanks for the reaction to Diana and the analysis. A slight correction, this performance wasn't on "You Are Super" but on a show called "ShowMaskGoOn", an offshoot of the Russian version of "The Masked Singer". Diana did appear on "You Are Super" in 2018, aged 14 and 2019 when she was 15. Here in Autumn 2021 she was 18 - born 31st May 2003. "ShowMaskGoOn" ran for 9 weeks with the same 9 singers (including Diana) singing in different genres each week. If you were to look at Diana again, I would suggest two performances from "You Are Super" to start with. She's also an expert at yodel technique. Was an expert yodeler at like 12 years old. Yodels were very dominant in her technique and stylistic choices when she was younger. I think it was because she became insecure in head voice with all that weight. She utilized chest dominant mixes and falsetto. She really had to work to get comfortable in head voice again. I think if you check out her performance of Rechenka at 14 (when her voice first started changing) you'll get quite a bit of insight. Also, it's a much more technically challenging piece. My other suggestions would be the small lounge venue performances at the Wood Grouse Nest she's done. Specifically As Your Voice and Personal Jesus. Whoever records the audio there does a really good job despite how small the venue is.

Он всё-таки сумел сконцентрироваться - и кое в чём разобрался. Основное определение он использует правильно: "очень тёмный" голос. Не низкий, как предпочитают говорить многие, а именно тёмный. Все эти ноты, от первой до последней, может воспроизвести и силовой тенор (tenore di forza) - и что с того? Вы услышите совсем другой звук - более бедный тембральными красками, совершенно другой по качеству; и станет понятно, что нужны какие-то дополнительные определения. Не только по цвету и светлости, но и такие, как "тёплый", "мягкий", "однородный", "насыщенный", "густой", "объёмный". Необычность и уникальность голоса Дианы Анкудиновой - не в умении брать низкие ноты, и не в диапазоне - а в удивительном разнообразии тембральных красок и их сочетаний, и в удивительно высоком качестве этих красок - труднодостижимом для подавляющего большинства артистов. Он, кстати, обратил внимание на одно важнейшее качество её вокала - удивительную однородность звука, особенно, при пении на fortissimo - как в высокой тесситуре, так и в низкой. Я тоже пришёл к выводу, что уникальность голоса Дианы не столько в диапазоне, сколько в его окраске и умении эту окраску менять в зависимости от смысла и настроения. Сколько я уже прослушал песен и в каждой обнаружил, почувствовал неповторимость. Её вокальные возможности богаче чем любой язык, она тембром и окраской передаёт гораздо больше чем словами. Таких исполнителей в мире можно по пальцам пересчитать, но и среди них она выделяется!..

Кстати на счёт расположения языка Дианы, он уже не первый кто озвучивает эту "теорию" с манипуляцией языка его "проглатывания" и прочих действий. Был уже такой с классическим муз. образованием, не то из США, не то с Канады точно не припомню и тоже был сильно удивлён после внимательного повторного просмотра, сказав браво Диана! Я думаю если Диана и манипулирует, то только гортанью и непосредственно голосовыми складками.

I believe that diana mentioned in an interview that Dimash messaged her on instagram to acknowledge her, though she seemed unsure about the idea of a collab because dimash has a veryyy different singing style compared to hers. However, i recall her saying “if one of us wants it to happen, then it will happen”…so really, you never know. Igor is a smart man, he could certainly come up with a good performance that suits both of them, but it’s ultimately up to whether they even want to pursue that idea.

Поверьте, есть чему удивляться, у этой девочки в 18 лет глубокое контральто, причем яркое сочетание колоратурного и драматического, у нее уникальный диапазон в нижнем регистре, и довольно высокий для контральто в верхнем диапазоне, а это в принципе уникальное сочетание, кроме того Господь одарил ее голос богатыми полифоническими обертонами, возможностью произносить несколько звуков в разных диапазонах одновременно, и и вентрологией, которую в простонародии называют чревовещаем. И всем этим набором Диана искусно управляет. К слову сказать, подобная особенность была и у легенды Имы Сумак. Одно время бытовало мнение, что это помощь звукорежиссеров, но когда слышали ее исполнения тех же композиций но акапелла, то скептис проходил, наступал шок. Оно и понятно, на сегодняшний день диапазон у Дианы обширный, от "Ре" малой октавы внизу до "Си" первой октавы на грудном регистре и "Ля" второй октавы в головном регистре вверху. Diana has given a few interviews and she explained that her lows are very easy but her high notes 🎶 were difficult during puberty to work on. Her vocal coach during her early teen years passed to during the Covid pandemic 😷 as well as her adopted father. She spoke about him during this competition to the other Singers/Judges. Her vocal range has expanded now that she’s 20’ years old. Please react to her original song “The Day You…”. She is now a five octave vocalist. She recently performed live on the Masked Singer an Aria Opera “Fly on the Wings of Wind”. The judges were shocked because she goes to her lower contralto tone. I would also recommend that you watch her “Sweet Dreams” cover …she dressed as Ermine a Japanese Kitsume’ Fox. Clips of these two performances are available by a dedicated fan KWSTAS as the episodes are blocked in her country.
