Hello fans of vintage bikes to my new #PendofskyGarage channel!
I present to you a short film about a very interesting and rare machine - Java 500 OHC 15/02 from 1958. This motorcycle was produced during the communist reign in Czechoslovakia, and - my subjective feeling - it is one of the nicer ones built during the regime .
A modern, two-cylinder engine with a "Royal camshaft" generated 28 HP and was able to accelerate the motorcycle to almost 150 km per hour. This was not a bad result compared to other motorcycles from the era, even those "capitalist". The fact that Jawa was capricious and chronically spoiled was forgiven :-)
In the film, a bit of history, a lot of shots of the motorcycle while driving, photos, and hospitality participation of the Jawa 500 owner, who rode one in the early 1980s and remembers the Jawa 500 with a tear in his eye, all the greater when I made him aware of the prices of such Jawa present days.

Hola!!! from INDIA , we have conceived the jawa in Mysore( started production from 1960, later became Ideal Jawa Ltd.) and its again reproduced by classic legends(Mahindra) but now a four stroke!!!

My first bike was a Jawa 150, vintage 1953. I soon learned about the 500. I've waited to see this video for 50 years! it's a beauty! I'd fit a modern CDI ignition system to it, and ride it regularly. It's a huge pity the Communist system didn't allow it to be developed better, it would have been a world beater.

Jikov ! not Žikov :D And reading of the what the old guy says (owner), I felt pleased but attacked personaly :D As verry patriotic Czech citizen, Putting 500cc engine in Perak frame was what they had.. There was prototype of 500 OHC with frame from 350/354 but it never took of becouse party said, we will drive into socialism in Cars not motorcycles.. So Jawa and CZ was stuck with 2 stroke.. Personally, the 2 stroke they made are one of the best ones out there.. They are faster bikes yeah, but do you need to go that fast? Jawa was made for everyone, for old grandma to go to field on it, to accountant to go to ofice, for worker to go to factory and for young guys picking up chicks :D The speeds of these bikes are enough for our roads.. U sometimes have verry good road but most of the times these bikes were going between small towns and vilages, and there were cracked asphalt, gravel roads and so on.. They didnt design sport bike but bike for every one needs and that everyone can use.. later there were the 50cc and mopeds like Babetta, but these early motorcycles they were just to get people moving.. So if the old guy says the suspensions were bad if u go 140km/h.. Yeah u not supose to ride this fast with roads like we have in ex eastern bloc.. Personally I think suspension of these bikes are enough to get you by, its not extra soft or extra hard.. Well you also have verry well paded seat, so that one thing thats helping.. Regardless, I think best motorcycle ever made by Jawa.. They should try to make modern version of this than let some Indians try to steal our Czech Brand.. (it pisses me of like I said Im verry patriotic) The sound and every thing, I mutch I love 250/353 this is one of the best ones ever made.. and it just looks beautifil, better than even Harley..
