We installed a shower miser water diverter in our build , it diverts first cold shower water back to tanks until blue sensor turns grey that indicates hot water in the line then turn tap back and away you go. This is in addition to the standard shower flick mixer

Thanks for responding to our last questions it’s very helpful. Another couple of questions… hubby wants to know what tyre pressures you run both on the car and the van when you’re travelling on the tar, and I was wondering if, after rain, you get water running off the outdoor pantry lid/door cover into the pantry boxes when you first open it?
@empty_nestadventures
@empty_nestadventures 2 ай бұрын
Hello again! We love your questions. So far on the pantry and we’ve had quite a few days of rain (nothing really heavy), but haven’t had an issue with water running over the pantry. As for tyre pressures, I run (all cold) car front 36 and rear 38. On hot days that will look like 40-41 front and 42-44 rear. In the van I run 56 cold if the water tanks are full, 54 if not. That will still rise to over 60 on a long drive

Very interesting. Understand why you like the Enerdrive setup as we have just done 56 nights off-grid in Tassie in our Lowdown, which has 2 x 190 watts of solar, a 200 amp lithium, 2000 inverter and chargers. Didn't even use a portable solar. We do run a laptop and induction cooktop, but not Starlink. So your larger setup would be even better. One water saving tip is to put on shampoo and conditioner, rub them in and then turn on the shower and rinse them out. Re. resettable fuses, we've had a couple fail and need replacing, so I bought several spares from Jaycar and NAPA. We've also had some electrical issues and I can tell you the wiring behind the panel is a maze. Don't recommend putting any chemical in the toilet flusher tank as it can clog up the pump. We've had to replace our pump and now have an electrical issue to fix with power to the pump. Our Lowdown is 4 years old and it's great to see the continual improvements Jawa is doing e.g. we fitted a little wheel from Bunnings to the corner of our door to avoid it catching the awning, so rounded door corners are a good idea. Re. the standard awning and wind, we have had ours in strong winds and it's surprising how much they can withstand, most recently during a gale on Bruny Island, but it's still a good udea to take it down in extreme conditions. We even had to drop the roof one night in Tassie as the wind was shaking the van. Jawa's 2024 range is sounding impressive. One question I do have is if Jawa is planning to offer a gasless option, as some companies do, with extra solar and batteries and all-electric induction and water heating. Seems to be a trend.

@empty_nestadventures 3 ай бұрын
Hi Michael, thanks for the tips. I’m not sure about the gasless option. I know the team were exploring when the new compliance laws were introduced, but they seem to have solved to meet the requirements. I’ll checkin with them on is it is on the radar, but my assumption is that it has been shelved at the moment

Awesome walk around guys. 2 questions, 1. The Sirocco demo we looked at did not come with the black towel holders etc. Did you add these? 2. Have you ever wanted/needed a reverse camera? It seems as the only real feature missing from the Sirocco that seems to be standard on other similar priced campers.
@empty_nestadventures
@empty_nestadventures 3 ай бұрын
Hi Rob. The towel hooks etc are called FusionLoc’s from Bunnings. They are awesome, but stuff we added. As for the reverse camera, we added a Safety Dave to our first van and the car. Used it once. I think you can spend the money on better mods to the van/car. I just get Mavo on the handheld UHF and she gives me feedback as I reverse

Hey guys, loved your video. We’ve just taken delivery of the same van. Just wondering if we really need to take a generator on our 6 month trip, and also wondering how long you find your toilet cassette lasts before it needs emptying?
@empty_nestadventures
@empty_nestadventures 3 ай бұрын
Hey Suzie! Great choice of van. So we decided to leave the genie at home, but have thought about it a couple of times. It really comes down to how you use the power and what weather conditions you get. Being right down in southern WA, it’s been cold and windy. I’m running Starlink to work 6 hours, 4 days per week and that is drawing about 12A with running HD video calls, laptop and extra monitor. That’s 70-75A in the day extra that we need to find. It’s been ok, but have got down to around 75% on morning 6 of a week offgrid. Not bad, but I have been watching the ePRO carefully…. Two fridges also adds more draw than we’re used to. I still think the weight of the generator is too much to maybe need it once or twice in 6 months….. but it just comes down to the way you use power and being comfortable if you see the battery not recovering to 💯 everyday
@empty_nestadventures
@empty_nestadventures 3 ай бұрын
As for the toilet cassette, we carry a spare for extended offgrid away from dump points. Ours lasts 4-5 days, but Ant usually finds ‘trees to water’ if you know what I mean 😆

Hi Rebecca. Haven’t heard about any plans from the team at Jawa for a composting toilet. Personally, I’m not sure about it either. We do carry an extra cassette for extended offgrid but we get 3-4 days out of one. Even most NP camps have a dump point around

Hi. Do you find that you have to remove what you need from the pantry before you start cooking? If you are vertically challenged would you have issues accessing the pantry depths with the sink and stove deployed ? Jawa seem to be a an above average quality product, time will tell if the build quality holds up.
