No Rash or redness. I have sensitive skin too. No problems. This is an older activity tracker but still good because of the robust app. Love mine. I have other activity trackers and smart watches...I wanted this because I didn't want another Bluetooth device connected to my device. This works great and is simple to use.

Yes you can, it vibrates and wakes you when you are not in a deep sleep.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
The sleep portion is not all that important to me but it does give me an idea of the quality of my sleep not just how long I slept. So deep sleep versus light sleep which makes a big difference! I do get more out of how it tracks the calories I burn during the day time, this way if I am trying to lose, gain or maintain weight, I know how many calories I can eat.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
There is a button you press to change modes. You have to remember to do this.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
It basically reads movement and tries to determine by that movement what you are doing and then convert that into an intensity reading, so it will read lots of different movement that you are doing, not just walking. At least that's my take on it.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
It was a bit tight. I ended up getting the Fitbit Flex instead and I am waiting on getting my Fitbit Force. I gave away my Jawbone UP to one of my subscribers.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
Thanks, was fun to review and great to have to keep track of things.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
The Up and Flex both track basic step style movement, walking, running and some other stuff, if you do things like swimming, weights, elliptical, biking then you should enter that in manually and it will override the time you enter in.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
Sorry you didn't get anything out of my video, setup is pretty easy, Jawbone has a manual for that, I thought I would give people an overview of what the UP actually does and doesn't do, not sure what part you are talking about when referring to me "Ranting"?
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
I have not tired the Nike one, not really interested in it to be honest. I do want to try the wrist band Fitbit version when I can get one.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
Mine worked fine for the two months or so that I used it, I did have the button fall off but Jawbone sent me a new band.
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure the alarm info gets sent and stored on the band so no need to be close to the iPhone, there is no Bluetooth on it anyways. I am not sure where the data is computed but I know for sure the info is stored on the band for a period of time.

There is a setting in the Fitbit Aria for people who have a more athletic build (people who weight train and have more muscle, less fat overall) I did not have mine setup with this setting originally.) Now that I have corrected it and I am also a bit leaner I am sitting around 6% body fat according to my Fitbit Aria Scale and App.

I bought the UP today... :) I'm excited! How long does it take to charge it?
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
The idea is that it is supposed to wake you when you are not in a deep sleep but you can always have a backup alarm just in case. I sleep pretty deep too and it usually wakes me up.
@jspr.k11 жыл бұрын
thanks :). but is the overall accurateness of the pedometer and sleep tracking good?

Thank you for this review!! I've been debating between the fitbit one and this jawbone up. Have you tried the Nike Fuelband?? I think I am going to go with the Up but wonder about the Nike one....?? Thanks again!!!

That's what I heard too but I have not used it so it's hard to say?

You can wear it in the shower for sure and for splashing around in a pool, just don't go to deep with it.

Well.. I just bought fitbit flex for me and my wife... The complaint about jawbone UP being not able to power up is too damn much... Nice review though
@MrMaxy88811 жыл бұрын
hey thx for the vid just two little things! :) there is a feature that makes your jawbone up vibrate after being in active for 45 mins, and wou were wearing it the wrong way round. the bit that has the button and the 5mm jack goes on the bottom XD thanks for the vid tho
@getfitover4011 жыл бұрын
Sure it could, you would use it the same way but make sure you intake a bit more calories than you burn.

I read from the jawbone forum, a lot of UP suddenly not working (red light lights on and nothing u can do, including soft reset and hard reset) after 2 weeks - 2 months... How about yours? I want one myself, but i'm going to do some research first..
@axekoyo11 жыл бұрын

Sorry i made mistake with my comment ! Do i have to log everything i did (e.x Running , jogging etc ) or there is way that the up is able to log it itself ? And what about the fitbitflex in this point ?
@tonyaluvs2dancensing7 жыл бұрын
how well does it stay on during exercises that require more movement with the arms like jumping jacks, martial arts?
@getfitover407 жыл бұрын
This unit is old and I don't think made anymore as this video is 4 years. It stayed on pretty good in general for me but the way the ends stick up would not make it ideal for activities like martial arts since it could catch on your opponent while sparring or wrestling.

This video review is from 2013 so we are looking at some old tech here. If you have this unit it is most likely obsolete now and I would consider getting something more up to date.

I heard the Fuelband has a lot less features on their companion app..
@tonyaluvs2dancensing7 жыл бұрын
will it track heart rate? is a separate app needed for that?
@getfitover407 жыл бұрын
This review and product are from 2013. Optical wrist worn heart rate monitors where not generally onboard fitness bands back then but are common place now. Usually the band will have a display that shows you your heart rate and the App will also include the data.

Why do you need a bracelet to tell you when you're sleeping? When you're sleeping, you're asleep, when you're awake, you're awake..? I find your video factual and perfectly informative, I'm just questioning the product thoroughly. I don't understand/see the point of them, if you have to tell the app and the bracelet what you're doing, what is the point? You know you're doing it anyway..?

Feedback - wish you had shown how much it vibrates and how the alarm app works: does it also play music after a period? etc. great vid otherwise
@getfitover409 жыл бұрын
dplaya It's been a while since I wore mine, this video is a couple of years old and Jawbone has a lot of new and inporved bands now. It was not a super strong vibration but did the job, I can't even remember much about the alarm other than you had to set it in the software on the phone and needed to sync to get the info to the band.

It tracks your sleep.. You have to tell it you're asleep though so it doesn't actually track when you're asleep. For the first 5 days I had mine I didn't switch modes.. and according to it I was up for 5 days straight without a second of sleep. It also says I burn something like 4000 calories in 3 hours and on and on.. It's terrible. I don't think it tracks ANYTHING very well at all, the data is entirely meaningless. In short it's a pure gimmick for OCD types.. Nothing else. I would wager the fitbit is little better. I think the main drive of these devices is not improving ones health but giving you something ELSE to add to all those waste of life social media sites. Now you and your friends can compare how you burn 12,000 calories in a gentle day of doing nothing. I am highly unimpressed.
