Guys : here is a tip for you all (haven't read it or seen it elsewhere - hope it's usefull): When navigating through 300-400 patches you can hold the shift + down arrow to speed the cursor X10 . ALSO - if you have in the same list patches from various sources like preset/exp02/exp06/GM - it will jump to the first of each category.

nirsul Good tip! This works on like ALL of Roland's devices, including Groove Boxes etc. Even works on my korg electribes and keyboards. Holding shift universally means skip by 10 when selecting patches or changing values on pro synths.

Kind of a stupid question, but when loading a new expansion pack. Will it erase what is on there from the factory? This is the first time I will be uploading an expansion pack, I haven't done anything since I bought it? Thanks, any help is appreciated.

nope it doesn't erase any factory stuff. just whatever u already loaded into that expansion slot.

Two expansion packs at a time, bad you can’t upload all 11, it means if you have a studio set with expansion sounds on them and upload others those sounds will have no audio until you next upload them back in even though all the settings will be saved

jawnyb2 Hey can you tell me how many patches, or tones came in the Grand piano collection, and the electric piano collection? Was it a large amount of tones, and do they sound really good? maybe better than the ones that were already in the FA08?

Try loading into the expansion load menu then either loading another expansion over top of it or press an empty slot and see if that will overwrite it.

I don't think that will work, because the expansions contain a bunch of pcm sounds that the patches use.

Hey, I have a FA-06, i want some indian tones in it, but they aren't available for it, rather they are available for xps10 and some other models, so can i download them instead and fit them into my fa-06?

Yeah unfortunately u have to use one of those slots for the integra sounds.

+jawnyb2 my keyboard is brand new, so does that mean I have two free slots. I guess I can boot into the USB menu to find out. I just want to load the synth expansion, maybe horn expansion, and then I saw the Integra 7 downloads with the super saws. Hopefully they all fit. The super saws were in a different format than those EXP files.

+Alexandre Maia I only saw two slots for EXPs. However I was able to also load SuperSaws on my unit. I suppose because SuperSaws is not an expansion pack.

+Miguel Quiles There are only two slots for these expansions, so you can't install more than 2 at once.

Richard Ferrer The serial number is on the back by the power switch. Should be on a white sticker.

Are you sure you copied the .bin files directly to the root level of the USB? They can't be in any folders at all, just the raw .bin files have to be on the root level.

Peto Strange. I didn't have to format mine at all. I used a 4GB USB stick that has a bunch of junk on it even. Do you have any smaller USB stick you could try? Just to be sure on the root of your stick can you see one or more files named something like this: EXP04.bin ?

Good question...I haven't tried to assign a sample to keys yet and don't remember seeing anything that would let me do it. I'll have to try it out and get back to you on that one!

Doesn't work on mine. Either using the USB or the SIM card. When I get to the green letters on the black screen, and it is time to push the sample pads, they don't do anything.

It only works if you have the .bin files at the root level of your USB stick. It won't read these off of the sim card. If the green screen doesn't show you 01: EXP00.bin like on the video (4 lines from the top) the bin files aren't in the right place.

andrucuevas Unfortunately no...maximum of 2 then you have to replace them if you find a new one you like, which is kind of a drag. I'm totally wanting a software update for this, but haven't heard anything about the next release date.
