very well done, I wouldn't care if they remade Jaws 3 today for a better ending scene but never ever must the original be remade.

I agree. I’ve always thought the concept of this film was brilliant because it was so different from the first 2 films but then the ball was dropped. This one could totally be remade and remade in such a great way.

The only problem I have with it is the use of the shot from Deep Blue Sea with the glass breaking because the reason why it doesn’t work as well for me is the fact that the lab in Deep Blue Sea is ginormous while the lab in JAWS 3 is a bit more office-sized. Either way, it’s so well done and it gets my like

Great timing releasing this lol I keep rewatching this scene because the music is outstanding. And weird how for a brief second you actually see the shark from a distance approaching the glass and it’s actually moving at about 00:10 but In The next scene it’s clearly looks like a shitty peace of cardboard even though it was computer generated lol I don’t get why they didn’t just use that affect from the brief second you see the shark moving because in that case it would have looked a lot better for 1983.

The original effect actually looked pretty good. But it was a lower resolution video composite and looked quite soft. (You can see the original version by watching the HBO behind the scenes video on KZbin, it’s right at the start of the documentary) So the producer at the last minute decided he wanted optical effects instead and a new special effects team had to scramble to meet the deadlines, resulting in the awful effects you see in the final film, most of the good 3D effects were replaced by (admittedly crisper and clearer, but not in a good way) rushed optical disasters. Only about 4 of the original effects remained. It’s a shame really, the producer also cut 20 odd minutes of footage out and re-edited the action, so the score had to be redone as well. Oh well, the result is still entertaining, but probably not for the reasons they hoped.
@danbeck50512 жыл бұрын
@@horrorfanandy4647 Yes. I believe the few electronic composite effects that remained (like the fish head at the begining) look great (no matte lines, good color balance) - and have satisfactory resolution. The rushed optical effects are terrible... Rumors say that the replacement hapened due to pressure of traditional optical effects people who were not wanting to allow a new technology to be introduced. The HBO behind the scenes used a preliminary test shot - but that already looked much better than the final optical effect they used indeed. The producers pulled the plug on the electronic composites by PSE just before the glass sequence was actually completed. I hope some of the footage and electronic composites have survived and we get a chance to see it in the future (also the tunel scene where the girl say "daddy, look at the fish!" was supposedly completed in electronic composites, with the shark approachin in the background, but was released without the shark because they could not complete the replacement optical effect on time... The few pictures of the discarded electronic composite sequences (like the submarine dive) look much better that what ended on the movie... I'd love to see the original Alves cut, that was scored by Alan Parker before all the recuts were done by the producers.

What you've done here is really cool. I applaud it. However I actually like the original as is ending. On one hand it's so fucking terrible its hilarious. But on the other hand it's so uncanny, so weird, so .....off.....that despite the ineptitude and cheapness that went into it it actually still kinda creeps me out....just the "look" on the stupid sharks face and the totally stlll movement....it's not GOOD...but it's got a certain nightmarish quality (that the filmmakers probably didn't even intend) that makes it fucking terrifying to me and was especially terrifying to 5 year old me lol
