Man, this guy was my hero, when I was trying to first stand up on my original one design, complete with teak boom, mast base and the nasty metal universal joint. 30 years later passed beyond being a hero, he's a living legend. No drugs, no scandals just pure ability and humility.

I've met Robbie twice and both times really made an impression on me, as I'm a lifelong windsurfer since 1984 (now a kiter) and he has always been the King in my book. Last time I ran into him was in 2017 on Maui at Kanaha on a light wind day. He was by himself in his VW van, doing R&D on a windsurf foil board with a 4.7 wave sail and no harness. He launched it off the beach and started planing right away while other people were out there schlogging on 6.5 meter sails and big floaty boards. He told me he was hoping that foiling would breathe new life into windsurfing. And now watching him with the Wind Wing ... he's always finding new ways to have fun on the water.

Same here....started windsurfing at 13....now 47....met the King Personally when I was living in Kailua for a while. Great man in every way. I have never lived life as a spectator but iI have had three heroes; Robby being the first to manifest. The other two are Julian Assange and the Russian who prevented nuclear world war by not pressing the launch button against orders because his instinct told him it was a false alarm by the radar systems. -Humanity at its best. Shocking for me was to see the KIng talk like that at the beginning of this video, about getting old. I never ever thought he would, or even could, get older! Please not now; not now where everything else is falling apart. THANK YOU for all the years of great action, all the great inspiration to pursue dreams no matter what. Watching you sail jaws I am more than convinced that you will keep going for at least 100 more years, Robby. Godspeed, Daniel

Pure class this video, obviously with Robby sailing Jaws, but also the light touch with the soundtrack, choosing light tracks not distracting from the sailing, big up to the music producer for this video, and of course Robby who continues to inspire windsurfers everywhere. The downwinder to the harbor, Robby floating over the speedboat's wake was a great bonus.

Robby you may not remember me but you will always be my friend!

Robbie made his surfing on the absolutely messy North Sea in the Netherlands look like ballet. It was only white water, and Robbie was the only one to show perfect moves, turns and jumps. Back in the early eighties he participated in a competition. I was just starting out and his performance and perseverance inspired me so much I'm windsurfing to this day. Indeed a legend and a kindhearted soul.

I have two sports heroes in my life, Ingemar Stenmark and Robby Naish. They have both had a big impact on my life because they were and still are such legends and great ambassedeurs of their respective sport and the reason(s) why I took up both alpine skiing and windsurfing in the late seventies. I am now in my mid sixties and windsurfing and skiing are still my two favourite outdoor hobbies and I'm pretty certain both are to "blame" that I'm still in pretty good shape considering my biological age. So thank you Robby (and Ingemar) for the good influence you have had on me, all these years.❤

Thx for taking us all along on your sessions on the water :) Hearing you talk so calm, honest and open about jaws and getting older does not reduce my admiration, grattitude and respect for what you've done for the surf/water-world in any way. On the contrary, you age with grace and you are still an amazingly inspiring waterman - It only seems natural to let go a bit of the extremes in the sport. Even though you are 17 years older than me, you are still a more fit surfer than me. Many free-surfers like myself never even dared to go (or felt like going) out to big waves like jaws, even when younger. So don't you worry too much about one day letting go of jaws :D haha For me the essence of being in/on the water has little to do with competition or prestige, it's a gift - a privilegie which so many watermen/women around the globe find, if they keep coming out there. Something pulls us and we occationally get somewhat grumpy when we can't go :D The battle with the elements may always be part of it, but so are the calmer sessions. Somehow I love those calm days more and more, and the older I get, the more I seem to find joy and laughter in playing around, doing silly stuff on the quiet sunny days. Somehow rediscovering why I wind/kite/surf/sail more and more. All the best from Denmark, all the way on the other side of the globe, where we are waiting for spring and light to come back - so we can go surfing again when we come home after work :) Until then - a pleasure to watch your videos and dream away!

Thanks for all the joy, and the very best wishes from Oz! I'm a long time sailboarder and kitesurfer and I'll never forget seeing for the first time ever a kite hovering above me on a beach in northwest WA while I was rigging a sailboard, backlit by the afternoon sun. Kiteboarding had only just arrived to Australia, and it was the only kite there, parked up in the sky. I still remember being slightly mystified and awestruck by this powerful thing just hovering above me. And in big, black letters, the word "NAISH"! I've had so many wonderful life experiences around sailboarding and kiting, thank you Robbie for your incredible contribution to these and other water-sports. Keep powering!
