I'm here because I just watched "Tips from a Shipwright" talk about building an "Orca" type ship. Naturally I like to look for models because they are more within reach for me than building a full size ship or boat. Enjoyed seeing your build! Quite seaworthy, too!

Hi Jonathan, it is something I have considered & I retire in 10 months time. My boat took me 3-4 months part time to build , quite a lot of time & material costs.

The bulkheads & keal are plywood, the rest of the model is mainly balsa.

Quint named his boat Orca because orcas are the top predator of the ocean, not great white sharks. Yes the shark in the second movie killed an orca but that was just an anomaly for dramatic effect.
