2 Trains Pass At A Railroad Crossing, Full Train Of New Railroad Cars Without Graffiti, Norfolk Southern Railroad Heritage Unit ( Reading Railroad ) & 5 Trains In Hamilton, Ohio. CSX And Norfolk Southern Trains. Includes An Auto Racks Train With All Kinds Of Graffiti. This Is About 20 Miles North Of Cincinnati On The CSX Toledo Sub.
The video starts with two trains coming at the same time. I had to figure out which side of the track was the best and I think I got it. The CSX double stack train was southbound and the Norfolk Southern train was heading north towards the New Castle Sub where it will diverge onto towards Indiana. Both trains passed in front of me and the NS train had a Reading Heritage Unit. Both trains also ended at the same time.
The next train was a train load of brand new covered hopper cars heading north to divert onto the westbound NS Newcastle Sub just a couple miles ahead. This train has 3 locomotives and the second unit is a rebuilt DC to AC unit. I did not count the cars. How many are there?
The 4th train is a Norfolk Southern auto racks trains with all kinds of graffiti. This is another directional freight on the CSX Toledo Sub. As stated before the NS line is primarily southbound trains.
The last train is a northbound CSX mixed freight. This train came from Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. Which train is your favourite and what did you think of the Reading locomotive? Have you ever seen this many new railroad cars? The 3rd train with the new covered hopper cars has the most freight cars that I have ever seen without graffiti. I wonder how long that will last.
Filmed Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Those new covered hoppers were built by Trinity Rail Group. They are 286,000 lbs. gross weight on rail and 5239 cubic feet capacity. They were most likely built sometime recent (that’s obvious). That’s all I know, except the previous car series ended with 298346, built in Jan. 2017 by Freight Car America. So these start at 298347 and go past 298597, which is the highest number I was able to catch.

How wonderful to see rail cars un-scribbled on! Sadly, they won't remain that way for long. I can remember when this didn't happen. I believe it used to be called "respect for someone else's property"! Anyway, nice catch! Thanks!!
@RailRide
@RailRide 5 ай бұрын
Sadly, some didn't remain that way even in this train...Around the 84th car, you start to see a black scribble toward the far end of some of those hoppers...as if a tagger noticed this train rolling by at low speed and was running alongside attempting to tag a few cars then running back and trying a few more.

Hey JT, what an AMAZING catch with all of these trains and thanks for sharing! That Reading Heritage Engine was a beauty and OMG, all those brand new hoppers with NO graffiti was a sight like no other in all of the train videos I have seen for years! I then compared them to all of the other cars with tons of graffiti. That "BOOG" tag at 13:43 was a classic work of "art" and glad you had it as part of your very interesting slide show. Those brown box cars look like barns on wheels and I LOVE them! OMG, these tracks are quite busy and glad you survived all that cold with the wind chill but NO snow! Nice to see your animals and your cute cat slurping her tasty meal. Take care and be safe out there! 😎

Saw one of the auto carriers trains in a video where the roof of just one car was slightly damaged got caught on the underside of a bridge and peeled open several of the carriers back like cans of sardines. As far cargo carrying trains I love an old steam engine on the front end and an old time caboose in the back. Maybe a Bordens Dairy boxcar with the cow of course. Maybe a Hersheys boxcar. Good old school cars depicting products made in USA and sold to people in the USA

I used to work for Southern Pacific. I remember running a couple of trains with brand new cars and I have seen a couple more of those trains while working. If the car numbers are already jumbled up and not in numerical order, then the new cars have been used a few times. If you get a train where most of the new cars are in numerical order then chances are they are on their virgin run from the factory. You might have a couple of cars out of sequence but most if not all would be in numerical order. Always a great site to see. The hopper cars seem to always be used as a set for one train. I have also seen this for tank cars. At some point the cars may be broken up and then scattered through out the rail system.

100 new cars all in one train. WOW Five auto rack cars with no graffiti too. I am not familiar with that heritage unit. A new one for me I think. I like the blue box car. ❤

Great video as always! Beautiful shots of trains. Yea kind of nice to see new rail cars at times! I once seen down in Hannibal Missouri over 100 brand new shiny black tanker cars! I asked a train engineer from BNSF what that was about! He told me Warren Buffet bought the tanker car company and they were used to haul oil up north before the pipeline was opened!

More specific, some types of tank cars stay free of graffiti because they spend little time sitting around where taggers can get to them. In your example, those cars would only be sitting still out in remote oiilfields or within a refinery. Not the most accessible places for vandals to get into.

Love the “no graffiti” hoppers. Reminds me of HO RTR hopper cars. Shiny out of the box, no weathering.

A train with nothing but brand new cars is a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a railfan. And I see Norfie has come a long way from eating slices of lunchmeat.

Rain is all we get, it seems. Tuesday weather people calling for 3 inches of rain, while up North a big snow and ice storm, But I do not know where the snow line is. I guess we will see. Have a great one, Jaw Tooth.@@JawTooth
