Rare train move on rarely used east end of Cincinnati Eastern Railroad. Norfolk Southern leases this branch line to CCET. Stored tank cars were moved from Seaman, Ohio to Sardinia Ohio. The historic General Electric B36-7 dropped off a gondola at Cohen Recycling in Macon Ohio first and then continued east to Seaman. At Seaman, Ohio they picked up the 36 cars and took them to Sardinia on a siding with other stored tank cars. Trains rarely go past Mount Zion and this was only the second move of the year to Seaman. The first move was about 2 weeks prior when these cars were placed there. I show them leaving Seaman, crossing the trestle at Mount Zion , and working the siding in Sardinia. Special notes: The GP49 #2807 was removed from CCET and taken out west to another Frontier Rail line. Also, the small switcher MP15 is now on property but is not functional yet. Filmed April 24, 2019. Thanks for watching! Please comment, rate and subscribe to JawTooth!!

Enjoyed the video. Your camera takes all of us into areas of the country that most will never see. It's all a part of what makes this country work. Old rail lines and new, with all the trains is a fascinating study. It takes lots of effort and time to put all these videos together. Jaw Tooth, we thank you. And there must be, much more!

Years ago, a rail line in southwestern Ontario past a small town, rarely got freight traffic. The rails were so rusted that the bond wires connected to the crossing were corroded and sometimes, they didn't even switch on (the line has been gone for 40 years).

That prime mover on that thing sounds great! far more quiet and clean running than i'd expect from a Dash-7 that old. Good to see her still on the rails doing work. I've never been to Ohio but one of the clients I support is a large telecom provider up there so I know where Batavia, Seaman, Sardinia, etc. are. having dispatched techs and parts all over that area.

The CSX Railroad had allow a local short line to lease and to operate a historical route of the C&O Railroad. The historical route is the same route where Amtrak's Cardinal runs on. CSX still uses the historical line as a bypass for empties. Most of the empties were coal cars. The name of the Short Line is likely still the Buckingham Branch Line.

Hi. Greetings from Pennsylvania. Really nice video of everyday working railroading. Lots of fun. I notice PRR signals, what line is this? Being where it is, I might have guessed B&O or even C&O? But everybody went to Cincinnati so there are lots of possibilities. I always loved the PRR signals: they were so simple to understand. Many thanks!! CAS
@CentralPennRailProductions
@CentralPennRailProductions 5 жыл бұрын
Those are former Norfolk & Western signals, they adopted their style from the PRR. You can also tell it's N&W by the telegraph poles, N&W telegraph poles always had the narrow plank on the top, you can see them all over Virginia and WV.

Not relocking or putting in the safety pin on the throw switch for 2 sidings. Can cause a derail event if the weight of the engine pushes the switched rail back. Common with field employees who don't think its needed on short switching jobs. He does put it in on the final siding throw meaning he thought he was done throwing that switch for the day.(or year according to the author of the video)

I saw the notification pop up (yes, I hit that bell), and was gonna watch later, then saw the position-light signals. Good vid, even if they don't play a part. For your viewers: The reporting mark you see on the tankers, SHPX, is American Railcar Industries. Seems a good possibility that they manufacturered those cars, though not guaranteed. Specifically, this reporting mark means American Railcar Leasing, or ARL, a subsidiary of the first I mentioned. It's other common reporting mark is ACFX (which I've seen, but SHPX was new to me). Now, as of this month (April '19 for future readers), ARL has apparently been sold to The Greenbrier Companies. Whether this is connected to the storage of *these* cars is unknown to me.

@JawTooth
@JawTooth 5 жыл бұрын
The GE is really an awesome engine. Listen to the horn and listen to how it sounds when it is pulling. That is my favorite engine so far of all the engines that CCET has used.
@stanpatterson5033
@stanpatterson5033 5 жыл бұрын
I prefer GE's myself over EMD's, but the decision to part with the EMD might have been merely a financial decision. Because sometimes railways lease, rather than own locomotives, why make payments on a locomotive that you just can't justify for the work being done? You can't afford to tie up all your locos and use them on one single train, the fuel consumption alone would be wild. So, when you have a 3600hp loco and a 2800hp loco and can only afford to send one (and really only need one on that job), send either one, but when you have to make lease payments at the end of each month, as well as insurance, maintenance, etc. you quickly realize that having a bunch of locos sitting around not earning their keep is a waste. So, pick the most powerful one (the one with 3600hp) because it's more likely to be able to handle heavy loads in the event that you get a huge train. Let the EMD go back to the leasing company and be relieved of the payments.
