Have You Ever Heard A Train Working Up Hill Like This One?! Epic Heavy Train & Abandoned RR X-ing

Locomotives Running Long Hood Forward On Rock Train Roaring Up Williamsburg Hill! Both Sides Of Train At Different Railroad Crossings. Includes Abandoned Railroad Crossing In Mount Orab, Ohio. Short Line Railroad Action On Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET. Train Going Up Steep Grade & Going Down Batavia Hill Crossing Over Main Street On An N&W Bridge.
This is a heavy rock train that also has car loads of railroad ties. The train is westbound passing through Mount Orab, Ohio; Williamsburg, Ohio and Batavia, Ohio on the Norfolk Southern Peavine Line. I chased the train and filmed both sides of it by getting it at several locations. Also included is the abandoned railroad crossing on Lindsey Road, Mt Orab. I have driven over that crossing and it was very steep. I remember when it was closed. A car was hit by a train there and Norfolk Southern offered 10 grand to the township to close the crossing permanently. I show what it looks like today and include a couple of pictures of the accident.
There are random shots in the video such as a high rail truck giving a horn salute and a look at the caboose in Mt Orab. Don't miss the Live Action Pets at the end and the slide show from the video. You will see the newest addition to the Live Action Pets. His name is Tom and Lillia found him.

Brian, pick up some old Warren Scholl videos and you'll see pictures of the Batavia station in the 1950's during the N&W steam days. There are several fantastic videos that show what it was like when the Cavalier and the Powhatan Arrow regularly traversed the Peavine between Norfolk and Cincinnati!

The Level Crossing at Garfield Ave. here in Bellefontaine, OH...is the highest point on the Big 4's Indy sub...which is where the old YMCA used to be...Crew changes were done there, as well...and the crews stayed at the "Y"...crossing is about a block from my house...and somedays they will make the house shake....

Yes I have heard many trains in Number 8 going over the Huey P. Long Railroad bridge in Jefferson Parish, LA, because I was running them. My heaviest train was 155 cars of Grain that weighed 133 tons per car for a total of 20,615 tons. That’s 41,230,000 LBS. I had to take it over the HPL Bridge with 18,000 HP on the head end and 6,000 HP pushing. We were in number 8 all the way to the crest which is over 2 miles.

Another great video JT but I don’t see how I train stays on that track because of all of those rotten ties. I don’t think I’ve seen a good tie on that track in any place that you have filmed. It seemed like the rail would just fall over but anyway my friend you stay safe out there and try to stay cool and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one.

CCDET. Big enough to serve you small enough to know you. Up and down those.hills and around those curves especially the sharp one near the old Depot site you realize that while it is no longer a main line it still is a major connection for small towns shipping bulk items. JT perhaps after the foliage goes away for the season perhaps you could show us where those old Spurs went to in Batavia and what' they served back in the day. While I'm sure you're enjoying your trip to follow steam power you enjoy going back to the old Hometown Favorites like CCET

My Akita just chased a large snake out of our backyard into our neighbors yard where it was killed by their three dogs. I live east of San Diego, CA and we are seeing more rattlesnakes and copperheads this summer.
